    Hi Guys

Wondering if you have any input on this one.

Now that you are no longer a JW what is your interpratation of the Lords Prayer where it says 'Let your will take place in heaven also upon earth'.

I would love to hear your opinions on this matter. As a christian the belief is that you are going to heaven right? So what is the relevance about the will taking place on earth?

    Thanx - Miss Peaches.

Once heard it explained this way, and as a non-Christian this might seem out of place to respond ...

For those who see Jesus as nothing more then just another example of Spirit speaking ... I once heard that this comment was actually saying, let that which you desire spiritually manfest itself in a physical manner. Basically, may the desires of my heart find root from my sub-conscience into my physical conscience, so that my life may take the path that I truly desire.

... something I thought would be interesting to share.

Well obviously people are going to disagree with me. But I think if his will is on earth that means he wants people to be resurrected on earth. But he wants the spiritual ones to look out for us in heaven.

The "will" takes place in heaven and the blessed ones receive the benefits of this will on earth.

Well I'm not a Christian, or anything really but you might want to consider this as a statement of principle, you might also consider any coherent idea rather than just thoughts of ones who identifiy with Christian for the same reason. From a sort of yogic perspective (watch all the minds have a problem with that word in this context) of union, it is simply the idea of aligning the mind and any higher faculties - Spirit. Mind or what have you, with the physical. Isn't that why they say "as above, so below"?

Isn't it strange how those who claim unbelief want to quickly respond on a "to the christians" thread?

God will come and rule this earth for a thousand years then it will become an actual glorified heaven for all people who ever lived here after the final armageddon.

    Matthew 5:5
5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

    Revelation CHAPTER 21

1 AND I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful

In the meantime we can create a mini version of heaven here on earth by creating places where the commandments are kept and families thrive (ie our homes.)
Heaven is currently still the place we came from (God's home)

    John 6:38

38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

    Genesis 2:4 - 5

4 ΒΆ These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,
5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.

.. and some reside there already awaiting the resurrection however most who have lived and died are still here as spirits - there is a divide between the phsical earth and paradise and the spiritual prison.

    Luke 23:42 - 43

42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

    John 20:17

17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God

    1 Peter 3:18 - 19

18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
    19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;

On a related note, much of religion does have this idea where this life on earth doesn't really matter, or is even bad in some way. Christians think of going to heaven, Buddhists might think of attaining nirvana. At first I didn't make the connection when I read the part of the post about going to heaven, because in my mind it's like what does that have to do with union? But the point is of course it isn't a one way trip, that relationship is bi-directional. It isn't like some escapism because earth sucks so badly, but you are very much concerned with the physical and the ordinary too. (actually you may not even see it as separate)

I was emailing a friend about having me in their will to take care of their cat, and it came up that she has come to appreciate taking care of her physical health, and I said this human experience is really a unique expression of love. It's not just a nice idea, but it is different from the egoic perspective of get me out of this mess with all the suffering. Whatever beliefs one may have around death, it's a matter of being willing to get your hands dirty so to speak, relate to the pain and suffering of this life and bring some relief. I mean why else would you be engaged in this life if it's just a matter of getting out of your own suffering? In the beginning one's frame of mind might be "screw this, I'm getting out of here!" but love brings your concern back here. Actually, some may not even want to go anywhere for this reason, because they care about what's going on here.
