If your friend is drinking alcohol every day then its a habit / addiction, he should get help to stop before the negative side effects set in.

When my bloke drinks he can down a whole bottle, but he only drinks about once every other month so its not a problem.

as a young man , when I was trying to find myself as they say, I took to drinking regularly.

When I noticed that planning the drinking was starting to happen at 10 am I wondered if there was a problem... I quit and didnt drink a long time.

A couple of beers, or a couple of shots isnt the issue.... is the need to take those drinks altering your personality.

Now I can take it or leave it. A case of beer will linger around my house for weeks... a quart of whiskey for a year or more.

Well..........lemmee see........I had a glass of wine with dinner at Christmas. My Doc said I could now (back in Dec) have an occasional glass.

When I was a JW, I'd have two stiff drinks (either vodka and a 7up type soda, or Canadian Whiskey and ginger ale) almost every evening. I was always so stressed out and it helped.

I don't really miss the "drinking as much as I thought I would. I can admit now that I thought I was becoming an alcoholic back then. (Can't believe I said that) Now that I am allowed to drink even the wine---it doesn't appeal that much to me. Go figure.

I don't drink during the week usually. Maybe a couple pints if I go out for wings on a Wednesday or something. A few drinks on the weekend.

I like cognac or red wine. But I don't drink even once a month anymore. I'm on too many drugs which say "do not take with alcohol."

I usually drink either Southern Comfort on the rocks or Sambuca. Occasionally wine if we go out to dinner or on special occasions. But apart from that, on Friday evenings I will ordinarily have 1 or 2 drinks (SoCo or Sambuca), and that's pretty much it.

So I guess that averages either 1/7 or 2/7 drinks a day, averaged out...except that I skip some Friday nights...
