They have no life and if they left the work, most have nothing in the way of accumulated wrealth or something to go to, so they stay.

While I think this is generally true sometimes I do wonder. I mean back in the day when I was taking this crap seriously I used to give our CO anywhere from $50-75 at the end of each visit and I wasnt kissing his ass to get an assembly part so you can imagine what the suck ups gave. I life in a fairly affluent area so I am guessing of the 10 elders, if we each gave him say $40 (non-kiss ass donation assumption) that would be $400. This is not including the many publishers with the varying amounts that they give.

He visits a cong. every week for say 48 out of 52 (they do have vacation time) that amounts to $19,200 non taxed income just from the elders assuming each gave $40 and there are 10 in each cong he visits. Can you imagine what the real amount is when you factor in all the publishers??

Of course this is not necessarily true in every circuit and based on assumptions but the point is these guys are not dirt poor especially when all their expenses are also taken care of each week by the congs. This includes dry cleaning, gas, meals, etc. If they are frugal and save they can have a nice nest egg after a couple decades... Tax free.

I was an elder for several years and I rarely gave money to COs maybe 2x total of 20 bucks, and that was only because I was aproached by an elder collecting money for the CO. I really never like them as you can tell.

I think you were in the minority Frankie... I gave because I sincerely wanted to help the guy out. Others to get parts, assignments, etc.

We would always give a minimum of $50, and also gave to any visiting missionaries and Bethelites because we felt sorry for their lack of wages. We also felt we were doing our part to help in the preaching work since we couldn't be pioneers. We were always feeling guilty for not doing more, so we tried to help the ones that were.

Heck, all that, and all we ever got was an early yearbook every year from some Bethelites. LOL

Yeah I was a real cheapskate when it came to giving any money to the COs, mainly because I hated it when they came, and no doubt this might also explain why they didn't like me either.

I even used to argue with them when they trried to give me council or advice which didn't help and often was very short sighted.
