I started posting because my wife's a jw. She also checks the history after I get off the computer,(I always delete the porn), so I figured she'd start reading some of the threads. In the mean time, I've been really impressed by the posters - smart and funny.

This site has been an eye-opener for me and I have been out of the Borg for 30 years! I came across it one day while breaking in my very first, brand new computer and I was overcome. I didn't make an introductory post I just started bashing away at my keyboard, so I apologize for this omission...bad manners. Before this I had never shared my story with anyone other than the one or two witness friends I had that were so sure they could bring me to my senses by bombarding me with all the crappola they think passes for highly intelligent and irrefutable proof that they are the Chosen Ones. All MY considerable proof that the WTBTS is a sinister con with an over abundant membership of malicious and mentally challenged cretins dedicated to the destruction of intellect and family ties was met with the famous "Deer in the headlights" stare and slack-jawed consternation. I carried a lonely burden of anger and confusion about the whole experience for a long time.....did not know one single other ex-jw the whole 30 years!!!. I knew I was right to leave but until I started to read the stories on a couple of ex-jw sites I had NO idea that there were thousands of duped x- dubs just like me coming out of the mental darkness with the same stories, or worse. To find such common cause with so many just lifted that final burden of regret and anger off my mind...can't thank all of you enough. WELCOME all you newbies and come on down lurkers...nothing to fear and lots to be gained!

Honesty
The gig was up in 2000 and then.... the WTBTS failed to pay off on its promises of riches and fame to the rank and file. It takes a while for reality to set in but when it does the floodgates are opened up.

LOL! I didn't make an introductory post either. I guess it's a little late now...
I heard about this site on Randy's board. It used to be Tishie's (not to be confused with "freeminds").

After watching the Silent Lamb story the other week I decided to see what else I could find out about the dubs. My GF has been brought up in a JW household and although not one herself she carries alot of common dub traits.
I got my hands on CoC last night too. Very good so far. I would like to see the org go down personally and all their skeletons come out. I did say org people not faith.

Welcome newbies! I also am a newbie. I was DF'd 30 years ago; tried for reinstatement 3 times after the disfellowshipment and never could get back (lucky for me.). I got on this site by accident--I thought this was a JW site. LOL. After reading the posts here the first time I was stunned. I never knew anything like this existed. I was awed--and freed the first time I visited this site. However, I didn't have a computer at home so I used the one I had at work during lunch break. I lurked for a year until I got my home computer in February, 2005 and have been reading and posting since. Mostly reading. I have this ineffective, rinky-dink, fisher price computer. I can't get an avatar, edit or spellcheck on this thing. But what's important is I can get online and converse with the brightest minds, tender hearts and kindred spirits of which most have had experiences with which we all can relate and empathize. I love it here and so will you, newbies. By the way, when I first posted I didn't introduce myself either. So, again I extend a welcome to you all.
I think you're gonna love it here. I do.

If we're counting from January than that would also include me although I've moved up to the exalted level of Junior! I did check out a few sites in the early nineties out of curiousity but had already made my decision before then (during my University years before the internet exploded unto the scene). This is the first time I've really had an opportunity to check into the org.'s history and I now appreciate why they fear the internet so much.
This board was recommended to me my a sibling and I've been hanging around ever since learning about the range of people's experiences in the org and in leaving it. I used to be rather dismissive of people on message boards but the general quality of most people here has changed that forever.
All of my sibs still deal with the "after effects" to varying degrees and I'm really impressed with the kindness and love willingly offered to anybody needing it. We're a pretty unique club of people!
I am surprised that there aren't more teenagers (especially young JW's) on the board though. Do we need to become more "hip"?
