Well some are like that - many are actually happy although I don't understand how.
One og the things they seem to be agaisnt is any sort of FUN, so no wonder many gripe.

Yeah, the JWs who have been around for awhile like to hear themselves complain just about anything. However, the minute someone suggests the real reason for the problem (i.e., the Watchtower Society) their eyes glass over and they'll run to defend the Tower. I've witnessed this many times. Scully nailed it with the Stockholm Syndrome--I think that's accurate, and it shows how predictable this behavior is.

I started laughing so hard I spit out my tea!! You and I must be thinking of that "other" WBTS that takes care of widows, fatherless children, and those in need. Hell, those in need could get more assistance from the Red Cross or the Salvation Army.
My mom (yes, the one I just told to have a nice life), is older, has holes in the old trailer she lives in, needs some things done that she cannot afford to hire. By the way, did I mention she lives in the Columbia, MO congregation?!! Her initials are B.H. I figure if I keep mentioning, then one of the many lurkers might give the elder's there a call. Otherwise, I'm gonna keep this shit up, and stir in some more!! (Just cause I can & boy does it feel good!!)

A witness complains about Elders, lack of love in the organisation, that meetings are boring, that they hate service etc., yet they are taught to respect these things because they are from Jehovah and that complainers hearts are read by Jehovah and Jehovah kicks the arses of those with complaining bad hearts.
The question is......do dubs REALLY believe what they defend? If they don't, do they think they can fool their god and escape his wrath? If they do not.....why do they do what they do?

Scully, what you say is so true about it like being in an abusive relationship. This can help us all to understand those that are trapped inside this heinous control group.
Just like an abused partner in a marriage - it is very hard to break away and do what all logic & reason tells us is necessary to survive.

Gumby, I have asked those same questions a thousand times....when I was a dub, I wasn't perfect....but I knew what was required of me as such...I could not understand why my husband's mother and her husband could lie, cheat, steal, mentally abuse whomever came into their presence...and show up at EVERY meeting, go in the field service, entertain the elders, PO's,CO's, and whoever else they knew that held some kind of prominence in the borg.....Did they think Jah did not see them??? did they think he wouldn't care what they were doing??? and when I detail how they act, I'm NOT exaggerating one bit....they've made a career from being thieves....and her husband served as an elder at one time....I don't get it...maybe they DO think they can hide ....now, I don't give a rat's a$$ what they do, we have nothing to do with them at all.....it's craziness....,....I think people like this lie to themselves about what they are doing, ...that's the only way they can live with themselves I guess..
