Since this is the 4th of July weekend, do any of you display the American Flag in or around you home?

I have to admit, although I have been faded for many years, I find it difficult to even own anything with the American Flag symbol.

I am not an American but perhaps you can think through the flag the good things that the USA stood for eg its role in the second world war, the democratic constitution, freedom of speech etc

I looked around my neighborhood last 4th of July and not even 30% displayed a flag. Does everyone in the US display a flag? No. Does it mean they aren't patriotic if they don't? I hope not. Then it is not automatic that if someone leaves the WTS, that they would display a flag. But now they have a choice.

I have a flag outside on holidays and my JW sister even saw it. I'm sure she probably thought my spouse did it.

when i first left i put a flag up. i kind of equated displaying the flag with flipping the bird to the WT. later, i took it down because i'm just not that kind of guy.

this is gonna sound retarded, but i'm a citizen of the world (wow, that really does sound stupid) and countries/borders are completely arbitrary and meaningless. to me, the very concept of 'pledging allegiance' to anything is ridiculously short sighted.

I honestly don't think about it. But my husband (never a JW) remembers and puts up the flag a few days before every national holiday.

I am very patriotic (despite the US's many faults) and I display patriotic items on my property. That is something that never bothered me to do after leaving the borg. I made a nifty wreath for my front door that has a star and bursts around it to simulate fireworks. If you'll driving around this weekend pratt1 and you see it, you'll know it's my house.

I appreciate the 4th of July celebrations, but I'm not so patriotic that I'd display a flag or dress in flag-like customs.

I'll go as far as doing the cookout bit, watching the fireworks, and maybe even wearing the flag colors. I don't think I'd ever display a flag, though.

Perhaps it's that JW deep in my hard drive indoctrination. Something I guess I'll never be able to get rid off for as long as I live.

it's funny because today is Canada day, and people here don't even think about stuff like that (for the most part)... i think it's because 99% of our population truly does love the country we live in, and we're secure enough about it that we don't have to display it the way the americans do. does that make any sense at all?

P.S. actually i will display a canadian flag (like on a button or something) whenever i travel, just so people don't think i'm american

Never really thought about it. We've had flags up in the past and if we had one now would probably set it out. Don't feel putting one out, or not, proves anything about love of country, not anymore than having one of those big black bibles in the middle of your coffee table proves anything about your love of God.
