Danny, I`m not englishspeaking either,I`m norwegian. The racism was the "meek"-part, it`s like saying "the blacks should be happy that they`re easy to fool". Look at the secong quote I posted, it`s post 28, if you think they weren`t racist.

I think that they way for the acted in South Africa for example showed that recendly they are far from racism. I have to give that to them that they were positive i this way. I think other discrimination in the borg is much worse. Discrimination of Woman, the us <-> them thinking etc. Danny

    For Danny,

Everybody was racist back then if using "colored" is the measuring rod.. Colored was considered the polite term as opposed to the N word many used. North or South, East or West, that was the vocabulary of people in the US. Black people called themselves "colored."

National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) for example.

Today, I have heard people of color, black, and Black American, Afro-American seems to be less popular with some black people.

The truth be told, the US and many countries still have a long way to get rid of the prejudice based on skin color. If an area has no blacks, then it is the Hispanics or Native Americans that take their place in the unthinking prejudices of some in the community.

This is true Blondie. Why does it have to be that a group of folks (of color) has to be the "low man on the totem pole"?

I think it is because rich white men dominate the world in so many ways. He who has the gold, rules.

Considering that 3/4 of the world are people of color, it is amazing.

I had one man tell me it was because God is white and male (one of those Aryan nation types).

With some people, the only person of color they have "met" is on TV or the movies and we know how realistic they are.

I have been watching Into The West on TNT on Friday (Spielberg project) and it makes me sick to see how the white race treated the Native Americans, Hispanics, and blacks. I knew this before from my history studies (and my own heritage) but to see it played out over time made me sick all over again. Yes, the thinking of being religiously superior had much to do with the whole mess.

I know what you mean. There are certain movies, tv shows, and such that I just cant watch - it's makes my heart hurt so bad to think of what my ancestors and other people of color have gone through simply because of the color of their skin.
