How many preaching hours does it take to convert a person to a Jehovah's Witness?
Top and bottom 20 countries of the ratio of one baptism to hours. The higher the ratio, the longer hours are needed to convert to Jehovah's Witnesses. For example in Japan, it takes about 18,000 hours (!) of preaching to gain one baptism, whereas in Nepal it takes only 2000 hours.

Not trying to play devil's advocate or anything, but why does it seem like just about every Kingdom Hall is expanding to 4 and 5 congregations? 10 years ago, you didn't see that too much, now it's really everywhere in my city. I know it has a lot to do with the spanish speaking community here, but I hear it's the same way in lots of other US cities.
Maybe there's no increase from 5 years ago, or 1 year ago, but I wonder why all the new building projects and Kingdom Hall expansion work (turning 1 hall into a double hall) if there's really no increase?
Maybe my city is seeing lots of people moving back and that's a big part of it. I don't know, I'm just curious about it.
There's no way you can deny the mood has changed in most congregations. The spanish speaking ones especially are really laid back about everything, and I mean everything, from the top down. Very seedy, but they have way more fun than the english speaking groups, who just seem more and more hateful and weird all the time.

See also my chart for the worldwide statistics, which gives a long historical view (since 1945):

The lack of growth is comparable only to the brief slump in 1966 (which was offset by the promulgation of the 1975 prophecy in that year) and the actual decline in 1977-1979 (due to the failure of that prophecy). This historical view shows that the current extended slump is an unusual and serious problem for the WTS.

at the DC, they said 250,000 were baptized last year- but only 30,000 in the US. So the JWs are losing the US.

Dark Night,Interesting comment about the longer Jehovah waits the more people he will have to destroy at Armageddon.
I would add, "the gospel must first be preached amongst all kindreds, tongues and peoples, and then the end will come". In that context, the longer God waits, the more people there are that will never have heard of the Gospel. Seems to me God's fighting a losing battle, if He's going to rely on the JW Organization to get the job done. LOL

All this talk about no growth in the god ol' USA is lies! It has to be lies because an Elder told me that new ones were a comin' in, right and left. I believe everything the Elders say because I'm stupid.

This is not a sign of growth... this is a sign of consolidation due to lack of funding. Congregations used to be able to afford their own KH's, but in the last decade or so the money has been drying up which is forcing them to share one building. Oh, and the chart... I got that from here: http://www.jwic.com/stat.htm
