As a competitive shooter and former hunter, I would do the same thing should someone do something like that to anyone in my family.....as is obvious from listening to the news lately......the law and the courts don't seem to be able to stop these psycho's (at least here in the US) and no I don't want to start a big long debate on gun ownership on this thread!

"let the system work"....Good point! Instead of a vigilante Granny and a press hoo-haa for a neat little story lets look at this another way.
What if the 18 year old girl was totin' a legal, registered pistol when the 2 goons assailed her?
Best case... she would have retreated if safe retreat was possible. Un-violated. She could have ID the goon only to have the system fail to convict...or maybe, just maybe, the County Prosecutor would get-r-done and put 2 scum merchants away for attempted felonies.
Worse case ... she may have sent to a** wipe perverts to hell and lived to deal with the civil law fall-out that always comes with a justifiable homicide.
Even worse case...the 2 goons might have taken her gun, raped her anyway and shot her with her own weapon.

Odds are Best case or worst case would prevail. People who care enough to carry legal, responsible weapons usually care enough to train for situations and are savvy enough to avoid trouble anyway.
As good copy goes this is a great little story if you're an editor. Granny is a law breaker and gives good gun owners a bad name. Of course, Australia desevrves what they get, letting their gun rights go down the loo as they have.

I would probably get in trouble where I work if they knew I was writing this! 'Cause I am suppose to wait on justice to pre-vail. Let the "system" work. But when it comes to these kind of animals getting away with raping and molesting or re-turned to population to re-offend again,and murder. It seems she took care to make sure it was the right men. All I can say is what has already been said. "You Go Grand-ma."
