let's also not forget that the children need to be dressed to the nines on all occassions to be as uncomfortable as possible. what a difference at my boyfriend's children's church. they allow kids to wear <insert audible gasp> SHORTS and SNEAKERS and JEANS!!!
the women are dressed in culottes or comfortable khakis; you see a few skirts here and there but no JW stepford wife attire. .

I hated getting all dressed up, I really resented having to wear tights as a young girl and pantyhose as an adolescent. But what really got to me was having to dress up for the book study in my own house! I mean who cares what you wear as long as it's clean? It's a persons home not a church.

I have been to other churches and been shell shocked to see men in khakis, with no tie, women wearing pants and kids in regular clothes. You don't need to dress up to show your love for god. That should be left to clergy.

I did too. It was such a waste of weekend time.
I really hated seeing other kids get beat by their parents for not being still. There was this one elder who had the bookstudy in his home and his son, about 4 or 5, was a real handful. The elder actually stopped in the middle of the study, stood up from his chair grabbed the boy's hair and whacked him on the head so hard, just because he wasn't quiet enough. I gave that elder the dirtiest look you can imagine. What an asshole.

I have often stated on threads that the WBTS hates children and I always asked why they didn't provide any type of activities for children. I drove by a church the other day that had a huge beautiful play ground behind it for kids and thought to myself, yeah, that would be the freaking day you would ever see that at a KH.

Whatever you tell them they focus everything on the preaching work and are not able to develop anything else that is necessary or at least very useful. The end is always round the corner, why bother?

Do you know how many years I have been hearing that line? last time my dad used it, I reminded him of all the years gone by hearing the end is near!.... with no armageddon, and we even passed in to a new millennium, so how do you know the end is near? My dad replies with the typical dub circular reasoning that time for Jah time goes by very slow and we as humans cannot comprehend this, and only he knows when he will strike.

So incredibly sad, deny them the most basic of childhood joys like x-mas, easter, halloween. Force them into feeling like social freaks by standing outside for the anthem, etc. and then subject to the mind numbing torture of 3 meetings a week and the public humiliation of field service....jesus h. christ no wonder Im so bitter!!!
we all deserve a medal for having survived that with even a shred of sanity intact!!!
