Unbiblical rules and sanctions in the WTS

In the early '80s I knew a guy who was studying and very zealous in becoming baptized and preaching, but he had a beard. He didn't have it so much by choice; he was black and had terrible in-grown hairs if he shaved. The elders insisted that he shave it off, or he would not be approved for baptism. He remember him fondly; he was at every meeting, very nice, very funny....a really nice brother. He gave in to the demands and had a messed-up face for weeks.

    He left shortly after that.

Danny, I bet you would lose any congregational responsibilty if they found out you were associating with apostates on this board. The way the JW's preach against bad association, you would be the topic of a special needs part. I've seen and been hung by power hungry elders and CO's for less.

Oh yeah, for sure (especially if they would read some of my threads) A special needs part specially for me. That would be the first time well it will happen someday, but I am planning a slow fade. Danny

That's cool man. The slow fade is kind of hard though, because it gives them opputunity to confront you all the time. I always preferred the suddenly falling off the face of the earth routine. How I loved the caller ID.

yeah I know. It is hard to stop myself from giving some comments sometimes. Well, I give sometimes some thought provoking comments now, but I know where to draw the border. I do not know how long I can keep it up. Anyway I do not hate teh dubs. I hate the false teachings of course. I was lucky in my cong. I could study, could more or less do what I like. (something you do just not tell, other thingsyou tell only to the right persons). to be short, my live in the org was not a hell. Also in my cong. there are a lot of good and loving people. UNless some posters here, I really felt the love from most people. Danny

Danny, maybe the jws in Belgium are not as fanatical and brutal as those in the USA, would they for example do what they did in Leolaia's congo and force someone with a very sensitive skin to shave?

It's also good you have some loving people in your congo, where I was there were just a couple, the rest were very cold.

Not that I was a JW, but almost...couldn't quit smoking....

Do you know of JWs that suffered sanctions due to WTS rules that have absolutely no basis in the Bible

If a person was to be Christ-like and accepting of everyone in order to "preach" the "true" gospel....well....you're kicked out! Go figure?

This can be very hurtful to someone who has understood the message of the Bible and wants to share it.

I can see your point Elaine, someone can be a great family man and a loving person, much better than the average dub and will get wasted because the stupid WTS decided that smoking ciggies is a sin worthy of expulsion and eternal death.

What about all the people who have suffered and died for refusing an organ transplant (ruling now changed) or a blood transfusion? What about all those who went to prison for refusing alternate work in lieu of military srevice? How about showing up at the meeting in jeans or WITHOUT a neck tie or women wearing pants...Everyone has to be squeezed into the same mold..and it hurts...some more than others.

Someone told my daughter before she quit going to the KH that she could have no more than 2 earrings per ear otherwise she was drawing too much attention to herself with worldly adornments.

    dear greendawn,

you said: someone can be a great family man and a loving person, much better than the average dub and will get wasted because the stupid WTS decided that smoking ciggies is a sin worthy of expulsion and eternal death.

    yes, but it runs deeper.....

In the LORD I put my trust; how can you say to my soul, flee as a bird to your mountain?

For look! The wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow on the string, that they may shoot secretly at the upright in heart.

The foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?

Upon the wicked He will rain coals; fire and brimstone and a burning wind; this shall be the portion of their cup They speak idly everyone with his neighbor; with flattering lips and a double heart they speak.

The wicked prowl on everyside, when vileness is exalted among the sons of men. For they intended evil against You; they devised a plot which they are not able to perform. Therefore, You will make them turn their back; You make ready Your arrows on Your string toward their faces. Psalm 11-12-21:11-12

So....I will bless the LORD who has given me counsel; my heart also instructs me in the night seasons. I have set the LORD always before me; because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.

    love michelle
