    Blondie,

Seventh Day Baptist ? Is that a new religion because I have never heard of that before. I am a Baptist and do not appreciate being considered a cult as the SDA are considered a cult.

Seventh day Adventist are strictly not allowed to eat pork. I have family members who are part of this sect. We have had major discussions about this and even after showing scripture where this is old jewish law they still believe that eating the pork is a sin. They too are blinded the same as JW's.

Hmmm. I might be interested in joining your cult IF you serve us all breakfast in bed.

I know the majority of the Torontoans (?) don't eat pork, if not all of them, but I thought that I would add that anyway, especially if there is anyone not from Toronto that doesn't eat pork.

Unfortunately, for us, things are not always quite as simple as going to The Most Holy Book, to find out whether or not something is lawful for a Baha'i or not. (It's always a good start though!) For instance, if you are a Baha'i you may eat pork, something which is forbidden in the Qur'an, and which is not mentioned in the Kitab-i-Aqdas whatsoever. But in a less known letter to a particular National Spiritual Assembly the Guardian does mention that it is lawful for a Baha'is to eat pork!

I wonder what the official belief is?

Blondie- That's true- many in Toronto don't eat pork. But head a few miles down the road to Mimico, and man, you never will see a sow on the loose.

Another cult that doesn't eat pork - 'The Farm' in Summertown, Tenn., Stephen Gaskins old fiefdom (booted in 82) -

"We provide dormitory housing or campsites and full vegan meals."

I'm guessing you're trying to prove to your husband following the Old Testament rigid/strict rules is only done by cults (like JWs)?

I grew up in the WWCoG and then became a JW 16 years ago. Most of my family are still WWCoG, however they are split because the WWCoG group had a huge shakeup in doctrine. The original WWCoG leaders attended a convention of mainstream christian denominations and converted to Christianity back in the 1990's. The hard-core members left and resurfaced in a lot of different groups with the same blind faith in Mr. '1975 in Prophecy False Prophet' who also claimed to be the Faithful Discreet Slave, Herbert.W. Armstrong who founded the cult back in the early 1930's.

My mom, sister and most of my brothers (although one and his wife became christians, thank God) are hard-core and went to several different splinter groups. They won't eat pork, shellfish, fish w/out scales or any animal that does not chew its cud and does not have a cleft hoof. Rabbit, squirrel, bear, froglegs, etc. are a no-no. They follow a lot of the old Jewish customs -- Feast of Tabernacles, Days of unleavened Bread, Pentecost, Day of Atonement, etc.

The nice thing about it (very different from JW families) is that they get along extremely well and other than observing different holy days and a couple of dietary exceptions their familial relationship is as solid as can be. The whole mix of them (29 in all) rented a 9 BR cabin in PigeonForge, TN this past week and had no problems with the dietary thing. They ate beef and stuff like that.

I was the only dummy who went to the demon JW cult.
