The other day I was getting my hair cut. After she was finished using the clippers to trim the back of my neck she pulled out a straight razor to scrape the hair on my neck even closer.
I just about jumped out of the chair when I saw her try to trim me with that thing!
I'm amazed she would try to use something like that with how easy it is to spread AIDS, Hepatitis and other serious diseases by sharing a razor. I asked her about it and she said many people demand that she use it!
Here in the Great White North,using a straight razer is almost considered an art..Especialy in a bar room fight.....LOL!!...OUTLAW
Yes, mine uses one for trimming but then again he's a 'barber' not a 'hair stylist.'

yep.
First the haircut, then the lathery foam, then the strait razor...I do not worry about the blood...never really thought about it....till now...thanks for that.....

It was not in a jar with alcohol? At the hairdressers I always see razors in a jar with alcohol.

My dad uses one to trim around his beard... as does his dad.
We're just old school here in NC I guess.
I use and electric razor... I can't be trusted with blades lol
When I was a kid, it was standard procedure ... a bunch of work with scissors, then the clippers, then the hot lather & the straight razor around the ears & the back of the neck ... but I haven't seen a barber use a straight razor in 20 years or more. I'm surprised it's even allowed there under current health codes. I remember asking here 5 or 10 years ago & was told it's not allowed in Indiana, anyway.
The better stylists do this...my wife is one and it is almost mandatory where she works.
They sterilize them between cuts... duh!

She used a little pump spray to spray it with something before placing it back on the table.
