I agree with GBL, it was like watching them from underwater or something I tried to fake it but I was always 3 steps behind. I just stopped trying at the end ,went straight to my seat, wouldn't talk to anyone and didn't even bother getting my bible out of my bag.
For weeks afterward the doors entering and exiting the hall were both locked and guarded during all meetings by young MS's and elders. There was also a lot of nervous peeking out the windows everytime a car was heard to drive by.
I'm sure the fire marshall would have been interested to have heard about that. I believe that would be a finable offense in most cities and towns.
If I decided to walk outside during a meeting and there was an MS blocking my way...they'd need more than a fire marshall...EMTs would be more like it.
one of my favorite things was to not sing during the songs, and just listen to the other cult members sing. and keeping my eyes open during the prayers, and just kind of watching everyone with their heads bowed, eyes closed, and swaying. just the thought that these were all people like me, standing there thinking that they were actually talking with god. made a shiver go up my spine.
been there...done that.....and bought the t-shirt.
I even do this when I'm around a bunch of them and they're praying over a couple of potato chips they've shared from the same bag.
It especially irritates them when you're eating something crunchy.
I think that is why the posted guards, so that if there was an emergency they could say that someone would have been right there to lead the way to safety
Total police state tatics though.
One night during the TMS meeting at my old KH, 2 teenage girls got up within 10 mins of each other "to use the washroom"....
LMAO. okay. you win.

Damsel, it would of been too embarassing for them to say "we're concerned that an erstwhile witness would be whisked away by their lover if they perchance left in the middle of the meeting, so if you decide to leave please maek sure you do so after the meeting is over." I think the LOL part of the whole thing is that they assumed that "posting guards" would keep them safe and that they wouldn't skip town...oh I don't know, before the meeting, after, at home, after school, etc, etc, etc.....

I think they thought that I was going to pull the same stunt. Everyone in the Kh was full of brotherly 'concern' for the state of my soul at that point.
For fun I went to the bathroom a lot!!!
Good times, good times

I got a cold sweat sometimes and just sat there fantasizing about running forest gump style out of the Kingdom Hall.
That is soooooooooo funny!!!
I would sit there during the first meeting wondering how I could get up during the song and leave quickly and pray that nobody would try to talk to me on the way out. Sometimes people would be outside or follow me out to the parking lot. I couldn't wait to get the car out of there. I always felt guilty about it though. Sometimes when I had a talk while I was walking back to my seat I would just keep walking right out the front door and leave.
