Well, yet another Awake has arrived giving us all the chance to speculate that

"Jehovah's Organization" may be getting "too stupid to live".

This month's jawdropper concerns the article "Is Astrology the Key to Your Future?"

Consider this negative appraisal of astrology:

"Today astrologers have not proved any more effective in predicting significant events.

After examining more than 3,000 specific astrological predictions, scientific investigators

... came to the conclusion that only 10 percent were accurate. Any well-informed analyst

could do better than that........Clearly, astrology is both unreliable and misleading."

Hello?!!!! Is this too easy? You mean I can junk any belief system if it can't

predict the future accurately? After one hundred and twenty years of false

predictions "Clearly ... [the Awake magazine] is both unreliable and misleading"

    Sheesh!

Did I say "dying" Awake magazine? Well, back in 1998 (Jan 8) the Awake listed

that it was published in 38 semimonthly languages and 31 monthly languages.

Today? The latest issue lists 37 semimonthly and 22 monthly languages.

In particular, third world languages are dropping off - and it may all go monthly next year.

Any mention of the fact that the WTS used to claim the celestial location of gods "throne" as the Pleides?

Or C.T. Russels use of the occult practice of Pyramidology to arrive at his 1914 "calculations"?

    PRICELESS!

I think the another question is who the hell relies on astrology these days anyways? I know a few people who read thier horoscopes but they dont live thier life by them. Shows how outof touch the WTS really is.

I don't know a witness that actually reads the awake. My family tries to force it on me but they don't even pick it up from the "library" anymore. It's really crap. The "information" on there is ignorant articles that you can find by clicking in a keyword in Google. And sheesh 10 percent is a pretty good track record for judging future events from stars.

Did the Awake! article give a reference source for that quotation? --VM44

I can remember reading articles like this...then reading them again...then again...

It took several readings to realize that there was no deep spiritual truth, no wonderful pearl of wisdom for me to find; I was searching for what was not there. Just high school level pseudo-journalism which was so inane as to be embarrassing to any reputable magazine.

It is easier to take this type of drivel if you just turn off your brain, glue an artificial smile to your face, and then force yourself to be as excited about the wonderful 'food at the proper time' as the rest of the automatons at the Hall.

Fewer questions to answer that way...

The article refers to "investigators R. Culver and Philip Ianna" for that conclusion.

Jeaniebeanz, your description of the Awake magazine is just too accurate. I also used to read it several times thinking I had overlooked something deep.

The WTS's success rate on predictions is, what, maybe 2%?....If that?

And yes, who really takes astrology seriously these days? I can imagine the incredulous look on householder's faces already when jws come knocking with that issue ready to offer.
