I don't know a witness that actually reads the awake
It took several readings to realize that there was no deep spiritual truth, no wonderful pearl of wisdom for me to find; I was searching for what was not there. Just high school level pseudo-journalism which was so inane as to be embarrassing to any reputable magazine.

I actually prefered the Awake!... but maybe it was because i was never truly bothered with "spiritual things" and finding more depth than necessary to convince my parents i was "spiritually strong". The Witchtower used to bore me to death with all its talk of Bible, Jehovah, Kingdom, Jesus, 144,000 ...... i also think i enjoyed it more because, as a child, i treated the Awake! as a kind of Did You Know? magazine... eg. Did you know that the hummingbird beats its wings at bla-di-bla times per second?...

I see what you mean though when you talk about pseudo-journalism... the article in the August 22 2003 Awake! "Insect Repellent... for Monkeys! (from our correspondant in Venezuela)" forces its way back into my thoughts.

"it may all go monthly next year."

Not so. It WILL all go monthly next year, and as this move obviously has been planned for some years, they saw no need to widen the circulation or number of languages, since it is all goin' to change by Jan. 1, 2006.

Well, back in 1998 (Jan 8) the Awake listed

that it was published in 38 semimonthly languages and 31 monthly languages.

Today? The latest issue lists 37 semimonthly and 22 monthly languages.

Really? Curious. I'd say that's quantitative evidence that the WT is being forced to scale back. I guess not as many people need life's waters free as before, eh? :-)

came to the conclusion that only 10 percent were accurate. Any well-informed analyst

    could do better than that........

A figure the WTBTS can only fantasise about.

Clearly, astrology is both unreliable and misleading."

    lol.....can't they see the irony?

When I was a JW and was given a Watchtower or Awake! to read, I always went with the Awake! because it had far sell BS in it. (Not that I'm saying it had none )

Clearly, astrology is both unreliable and misleading.

Clearly. I've always hated the way the WTS writers tend to use the word "clearly" so much. In one word they get around the burden of proof by telling the reader to just accept as fact the assertion being made.

Astrology is indeed something very stupid.
By the way is it not very close to astrology to calculate a year using pyramids and locating the creator in the pleades?
