I was one, when in, that believed it was the best thing to share your talents with those of the bretheren. Where you a plumber, a carpenter, an auto mechanic? then it would behoove you to take those skills and give them to the community of your brothers and sisters. Change that alternator, put a coat of paint on that house. Hey, we were all family, right? Your brothers and sisters deserved the best that you could give. We were supposed to share all our God given talents with them first.

    How much did you give?

    How far did you go?

Wouldn't you have gone to the ends of the earth?

How much did you give and what to your brothers and sisters?

    Wow.

I always help people move. Its relatively fun, and good exercise. Plus, you usually get free food.

I do basic car repairs. I change several people's oil, and get a "donation" (cheap bastards)

I have been awoken out of my big comfortable bed by someone calling because they have a flat tire somewhere...

I have done some gunsmithing work for a few brothers on the downlow.

I give alot, and get nothing.

Wow, it will really shock them when they find out about the real Richie...

    How far did you go?

    to far

I would never have gone to the ends of the earth for them and i did more then they have ever done for me or my family.

Helped some JW kids with arithmetic until I realised this was a harmful cult and dropped everything.

I don't give/share much of anything anymore. Part of my 'slow separation' tactic.

However, my husband, who is a hard working and very skilled man gives so much of his work/time/materials/money. I get sick and angry just thinking about it.

Fortunately for me I have no useful skills. The only thing I was good for was last minute talks, but in the end that priveledge was gone anyway.

My mum could sew so she always got given the clothes alterations. But no-one ever offered her any token payment even though we were piss poor and didnt have a bathroom or a kitchen in out house.

Also I always found witnoids better off than us were also dead tight. Once when I was 15 we were going iceskating in a nearby city. I cost me 50p return on the bus, but a brother phoned me up and offered me a lift in his mums car along with some other dubs. AFTER I had accepted this kind offer and was in the car he then asked for £2 each as a petrol contribution. I was gutted, as I really couldnt afford it, but was captive and couldnt say no.

I swore that if I could ever drive I would NEVER drop someone off a mile from their home cos it was 'convenient' for me to carry on driving a particular route, (I mean 5 minutes out of your way in a car compared to a 40 minute walk??) and I would NEVER ask for petrol money, or accept it if it was offered.

I used to work for an old Japanese Brother who owned a landscaping business. Guess who got to plant all the flowers and shrubs at all the two-day builds as well as lay all the sod. Me das' who. Anytime anyone in the Hall needed a sprinkler system installed I was the GTG as well. Old Japanese bro paid me $2.25 an hour to labor all day in the desert heat to boot. Stingy old codger.

No. I stopped dead in my tracks...

When I realized they didn't want single women around except for favors and to contribute money for whatever.

When I realized they didn't believe in work or education - but thought they should benefit from the fact that you had a job.

When I realized they had a "caste" system.
