Ones I remember from the 60s were much like Blonde described. They didn't think much of Rutherford, one or two remembered Russlle with fondness and didn't appear to be to much impressed with the then WTS leadership. Their attitude was we all have a job to do, lets have fun doing it.

Having gone through the "anointed" experience personally.....I can sincerely see now that it's caused from OD'ing on the scriptures and WT teachings....mostly scriptures, because the WT-BATSdoes not encourage their minions to aspire to anointed class.

As for treatment in the congs......personally, I was treated like crap and ridiculed, both to my face in front of peers and behind my back.

    Now? Life goes on.

I knew a kid who went to bethel and got totally caught up in the aura/BS of being in god's house etc. Next thing you know he's annointed and partaking of the emblems...Well time passes and he gets a girlfriend and guess what...he's back in the gt crowd again...Eventually he left bethel got married, did something bad, went to prison...

My mum said she knew loads of annointed ones in Australia when she was there (1969 - 1973) and they were ALL loopy.

I knew one in Southampton, and she was completely batty. She kept accusing the pioneer couple looking after her of theft (theft of her walking stick, theft of her silver teapot etc etc)

    Nuts, all of em!

Frannie, do you think they ridiculed you more, because you were a woman, professing to be one of the remnant?? Just a question.....at any rate, it's disgusting the kind of "love" they show.....glad you are "of the earthly sheepfold".....

Delilah, it could have been a combo of things....female, doesn't have one foot on a banana peel, one in the grave, has kids....who knows? More than likely it was just their prima donna complex foisted on them by the WT and its teachings.

You know it just occurred to me....when an organism is sick/diseased and isn't healed nor is it given medication to heal, it begins to finally devour itself. That's worth another topic, I think.

And actually, Delilah, I'm not a sheep.....I'm a kid (goat).....cause kids 'r kids in our language.

I think you're right Frannie...it certainly looks like the organization is devouring itself....and I stand corrected...it's MUCH more fun to be a kid.... than a sheep .

My mom professed to be one of the anointed. I think this was about 15 years ago when she was in her early 50's. According to papers I found when she died, she was hounded and harassed and almost disfellowhshipped by a number of congregations because of this. She wrote many letters to the society begging and pleading for help in a very eloquent way.
These letters horrified me because I realized how sincere she was in her beliefs and how scared she was by her situation. She had some women friends who also professed to be of 144,000 and the elders accused them of apostacy! These women were definintely some of the "lowly ones" in the congregation. Were they subconsciously attempting to create some power for themselves and get out from under their submission? Just a theory.
My mother never heard from the society as far as I can tell. She did eventually find a cong. that would allow her to partake without harrassment. I don't think they treated her special, just another lowly sister.
