Victim's family dresses down murderer By Laurel J. Sweet

03:48 AM EST A bitter brother-in-law of the mild-mannered monster who pinned his sister face down while he strangled her with a necktie wanted to see Kevin Hensley off to prison in style yesterday.
``I notice you don't have a tie on,'' Thomas Gillespie, his voice crackling with sarcasm, told Hensley, 49, who once attempted suicide. ``You know what? I brought one for you.''

Hensley - who was a tow truck driver for the Boston Transportation Department when he murdered his wife, Nancy Hensley, 45, in their East Boston bedroom Jan. 31, 2002 - had planned to speak at his mandatory sentencing to life behind bars. But crushed by the weight of his family's grief, he backed down.

After deliberating only two hours, a jury convicted Hensley of first-degree murder Thursday - the same day his daughter Candace Hensley turned 14.

The Hensleys had four children during their 22 years of marriage: daughters Candace and Kerry, 24, and sons Pat, 22, and Kevin, 10.
``They're beautiful kids,'' Maryann Gillespie, the aunt who took them in, told their father in her gut-wrenching good riddance. ``They deserve the best, and we'll have that for them.
``I wish you had come to us for help,'' she told Hensley, whose slain wife was her husband Robert Gillespie's sister. ``We would have been there for you, but there's nothing we can do now.''
Kevin and Nancy Hensley, Jehovah's Witnesses, had been separated only a couple of weeks when he beat and choked her to death and then dumped her body beside a toilet in the basement - what prosecutor Dennis Collins called the ``final indignity.''
The couple's religion teaches that men run the home and women are to be subservient, but while Kevin Hensley was a homebody, family members said Nancy, a working mom, wanted to spread her wings.
``My sister lived for her children. She loved them dearly,'' Karen Nolan told Hensley. ``She would have been proud of each one of them for how they've handled this.
``Unfortunately, this state doesn't have the death penalty yet for animals like you, Kevin, so the best I can hope for is that you live a long and miserable life.''

Eastie murder trial begins By Laurel J. Sweet
    Monday, July 11, 2005 - Updated:
02:16 PM EST T he murder trial of an East Boston man, who prosecutors say succeeded in killing the mother of his four children but botched an attempt to take his own life, begins today in Suffolk Superior Court.
Kevin Hensley, 49, is accused of beating the estranged wife he'd left two weeks earlier on Jan. 31, 2002, and strangling her with a necktie.
The body of Nancy Hensley, 45, was found in the family's basement under a blanket by the couple's oldest daughter, Kerry Hensley, 24.
Prosecutors said Kevin Hensley drove to the Waterville Valley ski resort in New Hampshire in his wife's car after the murder and allegedly tried to commit suicide. They said he pumped carbon monoxide into the vehicle by attaching a hose to the tailpipe and feeding it through a window.
Nancy Hensley had worked part time at Embassy Freight and was often seen jogging on the beach with her dog.
The doomed couple had filed for separation on Jan. 9, 2002, after 22 years of marriage. Nancy Hensley, whose family said had been a victim of her husband's mental abuse for at least 15 years, had an active restraining order against him when she was slain.

If you click on the link you can see what Kevin Hensley looks like. You know I have to wonder if the elders pressured her to stay with this vile man.

I wonder if there is a gallery anywhere that identifies alleged and convicted JW murderers, rapists and child molesters, complete with names, photographs and description of their crimes against other people. If there isn't one, there should be one.

The News wire link (on my browser) now points to my forum post (join in),hmmm perhaps somebody at the Boston Herald has a personal interest or is it just a glitch?

Ya know when you have abused millions of people you must expect lots of enemies. That's just it,the biggest problem that i have promoting my counter-cult page is lack of interest among the general population because everybody already knows it.

I'm curious. Have people who are not Jehovah's WItnesses and perhaps belong to other religions ever committed terrible crimes such as this? Statistically speaking are JWs more prone to be murderers, rapists and child molestors that the population in general? I'd like to see the data.

Sad, so very sad, may she rest in peace. When this type of thing happens "in the world" the JW's say it's because they do not have Jehovah's blessing. Wonder how they can find a way to twist this.

I am glad they made the point about how the JW religion teaches that women must be subservient. The more bad that is exposed about this religion, the better.

What difference does it make? Does it excuse the JW religion if the statistics are similar?

If I had to guess, I would say the incidence is probably roughly the same. The differences lie in how the Organization deals with crimes against family. I wonder how many other people knew he was a violent abuser before he actually killed her? I wonder if the elders knew?

Regardless of statistics, the WT has a proven track record of beating the flock, especially in situations where a victims accusations may sully the Organizations so-called good name. Their reputation has always taken precedence. THAT is your statistic.

This is a very sad situation. I feel for the daughter that probably found her. The article (at least what I read) did not state who found her. But not only did this very sick man kill his wife he also left her body near his daughter. Did he have any kind of decency at all? Apparently not.

I do agree that the stats (if you could get them) are probably not any higher than the general population. Sad to say that all across the board there are weirdo's. Some of us WANT to look at these things from an X- JW perspective because it gives us one more notch in our belt, so to speak, as a reason to point to and say 'SEE they ARE worse than others!' On one hand that is right, on the other...I am sure stats would not say they are any worse than anyone else. True, they SAY they are better, happier, more loving than other religion. I have not personally seen that. For me this kind of thing only reinforces that they do not have God's backing at all. They ARE no better.

Let's say, for instance that the stats are the same. IF they are, then they are no better or no worse than other religions (very much contrary to what they teach). IF the stats say it is a higher percentage, it proves beyond a shadow of a doubt they are WORSE!

    Just my .02.

Netty, I have had that conversation with my very devoted mom. She says that if they were JW's then there are a couple of reasons this happens. 1) They have left Jehoober and therefore have done as their heart desires. 2) She says that if they were current witnesses then it is because the ways of the world has worn them down.

I get so angry with my parents, but that is another story altogether. LOL
