Do you believe the earth is warming up in your area?

We hear so much about global warming, that we wonder if it's a myth or real. Is it just in fractions of a degree or much more.

Since posters here are from all corners of the world, I'd like to hear from you, and let us know if you see a difference in the weather patterns in your area, since the last few years.

Here, I notice that more people have air conditioners in their homes than before, and most cars have them today. Does this mean that its hotter, or that the population is getting older and people are less resistant to heat?

I was still heating the 16th of June and laughed at global warming....but the temperature changed fast, and I think it's a little hotter than normal for July here.

I noticed that spring is colder than years ago, but summer is hotter. Fall is also hotter. Winter isn't as cold.

How about you, did you notice any signs of global warming in your part of the world?

Global warming also involves areas getting colder. But yes, we've had less winter since I was a kid.

Hotter and dryer than normal for July here, too .. but these things run in cycles. We're not breaking any records. There are dry years, and wet ones. There are hot years, and cool ones.

Global warming, IMHO, is more about mother nature than it is about folks with aerosol cans and SUVs. How much CO2 do cows & buffalo belch out? How much sulfir dioxide is spewed from volcanoes? Stack that upu against the amount coming from factories and SUVs. We're just a small blip on the radar.

    Yes, absolutely.

When I was a child, there was snow and ice (skating each winter for very long periods) today there hardly is ice long and strong enough to skate....

As for the summer: can't remember that there were summers that hot - airco's were an unknown and not necessary object.

It may be possible. As a kid we'd go sledding every winter, but for the past decade or so there hasn't been enough snow to do anything like that. If we do get a little snow it's usually gone within a few days.

Then again, three or four years ago we had a blizzard that had us barricaded in the house for five days.

Remember that reliable records have only been around 100 or so years. Though pollutants will certainly effect the environment nature itself creates a fair share itself. Dendro dating has shown in Medieval times we have had both temperatures comparable to today and a mini ice ages.
