Does anyone see the comparison?

The WT-BATS, as we all know, is suffering in the throes of its own false teachings and deceptive practices. We see more and more newbies coming to JWD and other xdub websites, mailing lists and forums...especially this year. The reasons? Their intense lack of love shown to their members, their false teachings, their unmerciful ways, their restrictive lifestyle, burdens of guilt and fear, constant haranging to do more study, meeting attendance and field service....these things are just too heavy to bear. Not to mention their practices of dF'ing, dA'ing, public and private reproof, the practice of shunning as though one were dead, or just rudely ignoring the needy or those they personally deem to be "not approved association" and their protecting of child molesters and rapists.

Now....while I'm not well-versed in scientific or biological knowledge, I just KNOW I've seen on TV, heard or read somewhere about living organisms that become diseased or undergo starvation. It's been shown that they begin to devour themselves. And it's fatal.

    What do yall think?

Chomp, Chomp....yes I think you have a good point Frannie look at the stats...I've said a couple of times here (half jokingly) that to make sure of future growth the WT will ban contraception...

For years the WT has been real secrative, lots of little secrets locked away from the R&F I was an elder, making a call with the CO on an unbelieving husband when I first heard of beth sarim ...from the unbeliever...that was an eye opener...

The WT used to have all that embarrasing stuff sealed up and locked away, but sites like this and people like us are the figurative can openers, and what do we find...we've opened a can of worms...for the WT...They made the mistake of putting all their rubbish in writing. Now the whole world can see them for the frauds they really are.

    Could it be we are seeing the 'real' application of Daniel 12:9,10;

"Go Daniel, because the words are made secret [about the WTBTS?] and sealed up until the time of the end. Many will cleanse themselves and whiten themselves and will be refined. And the wicked ones will certainly act wickedly, and no wicked ones at all will understand, but the ones having insight [apostates?] will understand."

Yup, Potleg. No matter how hard they attempt to keep their publishers from knowing the truth, it keeps coming at 'em, and the very tactics they use in an attempt to control their minions are driving 'em away in droves. Ahhhhh, the age of enlightenment.

Perhaps, AK Jeff. There's other scriptures that apply to their demise, also. I thought of one when I saw your post, but I'm shootin' blanks right now. I'll get back to ya on that.

    He
    Made "Heavy Loads" Light

JESUS said concerning the scribes and Pharisees: "They bind up heavy loads and put them upon the shoulders of men, but they themselves are not willing to budge them with their finger." (Matthew 23:4) As evidence of how that proved to be true, we read the following in A Dictionary of the Bible, edited by James Hastings:

"The scribes were not philosophers; they were interpreters of the sacred Law. . . . Every department of life was regulated by it. . . . Every biblical commandment was surrounded by a network of petty regulations. No allowance was made for changing circumstances; full obedience to the Law in all its particulars was inexorably demanded of every Jew. To the precepts of the Written Law were added those of the ‘Halakha’ or Traditional Law, which was handed down as a sacred trust from generation to generation, and ultimately embodied in the Talmud. . . . An attempt was thus made to bring every conceivable case within the scope of the Law, and with merciless logic to regulate the whole of human conduct by strict rule of thumb. Legal details were multiplied until religion became a trade, and life an intolerable burden. Men were reduced to moral automatons. The voice of conscience was stifled; the living power of the Divine word was neutralized and smothered beneath a mass of eternal rules. Hence our Lord’s accusation against the Pharisees, that by their traditions they made void the Law."

How encouraging it must have been for humble, sincere people to learn that the Son of God did not view worship in that way! How delightful they must have found his words: "Come to me, all you who are toiling and loaded down, and I will refresh you. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am mild-tempered and lowly in heart, and you will find refreshment for your souls. For my yoke is kindly and my load is light"!—Matthew 11:28-30.

How could these guys write this and not see the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society in the mirror? That is what baffles me.

This is one thing that always made me think the wTBTS might not be the truth.

They are indeed a very hearless lot without any compassion, mercy, reasonableness, or sense of humour. It is inevitable that a society which is so strained by unnatural beliefs, practices and behaviour patterns will sooner or later begin to fall apart.

And the good thing is that the FDS is too pig headed to heed any need for change I see that 18 years after I left they still hold on to the same extreme positions, no blood allowed, education discouraged, dissent is severely suppressed.

Jeff, that's totally awesome! I was too busy getting OD'd on scriptures at the time to study the WT well enough to have seen that particular passage.....but then....they've got literary blindfolds on everyone within their reach, so it doesn't surprise me that more haven't realized the implications.

I wish I'd paid closer attention back then, FHN. If I'd seen that, it might have made me start thinking, too. What was that scripture about a man looking in a mirror and then walking away and forgetting what he sees?

Greendawn, that's all to the good for their publishers. The food the WT-BATS is feeding their members is poisoning them against their own teachings, doctrines and practices.

My dad told me he knew something was wrong in Bethel during the Ray Franz era when they changed the title of the Kingdom Ministry to Our Kingdom Service and the Society softened up and allowed talking to shunned people. He didn't like the friendlier Society. He was happy when the mean approach returned and the Kingdom Ministry name returned.
If the Jehovah's Witness group had turned friendly and taught how to love rather just claim to show it, I think he'd have left and found another mean spirited group.
