NO - Do not get me started - this is my number one hate of the WTBTS - Read the prodigal son and it shows that the WTBTS reinsatement policy is totally anti-scriptural

In answer to the question: No he wasn't, his father was looking for him and "while he was still afar off" he ran to greet him.

Jesus told this parable to teach about the Father's attitude (i.e. the heavenly Father). As you can readily see, this is far, far removed from the procedures of the JDubs whose procedures mirror the harshness of the Jewish system - the very ones that Jesus was condemning in the parable!!

And he probably looked pretty raggedy.

If God had waited till humans "deserved" forgiveness, he'd still be waiting.

The father ran out to the son (he didn't wait for the son to get to the house), and tenderly kissed him, not ignoring him like he would be at the KH for at least a year before he would be acknowledged.

    woops, forgot.

Then the son asked his father to forgive him. The father didn't wait for the son to beg forgiveness first after waiting 2 months, then at 2 month intervals, until the father thought he had been ignored enough.

My interpretation of the Prodical son is,

It shows that when you sin God is willing to forgive and will welcome you with open arms. He is also glad when one is lost but now he/she is found! So whenever we turn away from god, like the son did to his father, God is willing to forgive. They had a party that night when the son returned.

So its simply a parable on God's forgiveness the parable of the 99 sheep and the 1 sheep that strayed away has a similar meaning to this parable.

I don't quite understand the Watchtowers interpretation...
