If you only flip burgers or wash windows you will always be living hand to mouth. You will never have more than enough therefore you are reliant on "Jehovah" and not yourself. You will never put your trust in your savings or your own survival skills..........

I would imagine there is a lot of conflict in some areas where brothers have been let go due to downsizing from what they thought were secure jobs. In the State of Washington a person can only stay on unemployment for so long. If he/she is considered a displaced worker, then the State will send that person to school, usually community college, to be retrained in another field. If he/she refuses to participate, unemployment compensation is discontinued. (My 40-something JW brother-in-law and my sister's best friend, also a JW and 40-ish, both have recently completed AA degrees from a community college, 2-year full time programs). So JW youth are getting mixed messages about education. It's ok to go to school if you are going to lose social benefits, but not ok if you are just starting out in your life.

I think this was commented on by another poster in a thread but I think that most JW's will still try to send their kids to college if its financially possible despite this drama. Most watched that "biblical" drama and concluded that the FDS is warning us about dangerous influences that we could expose ourselves to if we pursue higher education not "Don't go to college" The only idiots who will look down on the ones choosing to go are the self righteous, loser pioneers who are going to live in mommy's basment until they are called into circuit (circus) work when they are 35 or 40. The problem is, these idots become the "leaders" of tomorrow so they will be able to spread their idiotic propaganda to the masses anyway. So the FDS still accomplishes its goal.

As for the idea that college might promote immorality; does being marginally literate, destitute and unemployable promote morality?

Their abject hypocrisy in this matter is evident when they take some of their best and brightest in Bethel and pay for their law school education. That's 7 to 8 years of higher education, PLUS the one year it takes to take the bar and get the results.Evolution is taught in college and only the most braindead dubs could sit through college-level classes and conclude the evolution is not a fact. If most dubs believed in evolution, then most of the dogma pushed by the WTS would go iback nto the toilet where it should have stayed in the first place. If there was no "Adam" and "Eve" created directly by God, then the whole WTS notion of this "universal conflict" and "restoration of a Paradise" earth, and "getting back to human perfection" could not exist, and the WTS would have to make up entirely new set of lies to stay in business.
