BTW, I don't think it's barbaric at all to kill a killer. I think it's stupid to allow killers to kill again----including other prisoners.
Are You For or Against The Death Penalty?

Nope. Killing by the State as punishment is totally demeaning to the State. I'm glad that the UK gave it up in the 60's. I mean, cm'on, even the French don't do it anymore! They chopped off their last head in 1977, this was believed to be the last execution in Western Europe.
Meanwhile, if you're going to boil people alive from the inside out by means of the electric chair or suffocate them over 15 minutes or so via lethal injection, then I guess you might as well enjoy it. Nothing like a bit of retribution!

I have nothing against killing them quickly. If that makes it less "demeaning" to you, that's alright by me. Just get rid of those that deserve it. Some people just don't DESERVE to live.

Are you off your rocker??!! The reason the death penalty costs so much is because of all the frigging money that is WASTED on coddling these scumbags and worrying about their "rights"!! For example, up here in Canada where unfortunately we don't have the death penalty, it's costing tax payers over $60,000/year to keep that vermin Paul Bernardo* in prison!! This covers the cost to feed, cloth, shelter and guard this piece of human excrement when a 50 cent bullet would have taken care of him once and for all.
But of course, we can't do that.......that would "violate his 'Right's'.
The reason the death penalty costs so much is because of all the Appeals and legal fees that it costs which amounts to red-tape, bureuacratic crap. If someone is guilty beyond any doubt then there should be NO appeals process at all-----JUST-GET-RID-OF THEM!!!
*For those of you who don't know who Paul Bernardo is, he and his scumbag wive Karla Holmoka, kidnapped, raped, tortured and murdered god knows how many young women in the late 1980s and early 1990's in Ontario, Canada. At least one girl was cut up with a chain saw, encased in cement blocks and thrown into Lake Ontario. There's no doubt they did it as these sick wackos videotaped it all..........ya, but this doesn't deserve the death penalty eh? Let's worry about their "Rights" to live, even though they took this right away from these young women.

Paul Bernardo is my poster boy for the death penalty. If ANYONE can defend him, they ARE off their rockers!!

Minimus, It's demeaning to the USA that you still execute people. It's really time that you all grew out of it. It's the one thing that pisses me off about the USA more than anything else. It's apalling that your country still do this. Englishman.

No, I was just stating a fact. Which you go on to acknowledge as a fact yourself.
Mary, you should leave Canada and come on down to Texas. You'd feel right at home!

EMan, I know you to be a pretty tolerant guy. Why are you sooooooooo pissed off on this subject? I think YOU should reassess your thinking here. I have no issue changing the time period for appeals and all the other BS that makes things expensive. But like Mary says about Paul Bernado, this guys deserves to die. You don't see that?

It's so good of the English to keep Ian Brady in maximum security comfort for 40 years while the mother of one of his victims STILL can't get closure on her child. Even pretending he was willing to oblige just in order to remotely view the grave of his victim. Sick. That man should have swung years ago.
