I dont believe they are persecuted but do believe they would like to be.

It seems the new word is now 'ridicule'. Persecution is still good though. Anytime someone disagrees with jw it is either persecution or ridicule. I would like to carry around pictures of people who are truly persecuted for their faith, whatever that may be, and show a jw just what persecution means. But, then I would be mean and vindictive and more persecution because I would be insinuating they don't know what the word really means! carla

If they got persecuted in the USA that was mainly because they had brought it on themselves by being unduly agressive, remember how much Rutherford hated and provoked christian religions especially the catholics and they would go with those phonographs and turn them on loud outside catholic churches during mass.

In the first world war he talked seditiously and got imprisoned for a short time.

JW's persecuted ? . .. . Je pense, oui !! And if they aren't (yet) in this country (the UK) then they jolly well should be.

JWs have been persecuted, even in the US and Canada in past times. I wouldn't doubt that they are being persecuted in some other non-christian countries now.

But...other religions have been persecuted. Some are being persecuted today. The evidence of being persecuted does not make any one religion the true religion more than one that isn't being persecuted at the time.

The WTS loves to point to the treatment of JWs by Hitler and the Nazis. Well, a few hundred JWs died, but millions of jews died. Little known is that the Nazis killed Catholic priests that refused to go along with the program. Does that make Catholics the true religion? You know the WTS would just hate that.

I remember reading stories from the early days of people being tarred and feathered and run out of town (I think Mormons received similar treatment). So there was some real persecution in North America at one time, but it wasn't government sponsored...

Especially during WW2. The problem is that they made a spectacle of sitting the war out, then loudly and publicly ridiculed non JW's for patriotism and belonging to other religions usually via a car with a loudspeaker on top.

I agree I think they have sumgness about them. I love when they tell me that i shouldnt ask them questions if my only intention is to try and prove them wrong. I tell them that you have 6 million people who go knocking on peoples doors every day with the motive of telling them why they are wrong and you are right. But this attitude causes them trouble.

My mom cries persecution when I bash her god the faithless and indiscreet slave. She doesn't have a clue.

Talking to "worldly" people about Jdubs and it was never a big issue for them. They really never gave the Dubs a second thought let alone bother to persecute them. Most often then not the Dubs bring it on themselves. As a good friend of mine told me about the time her father politely asked the Dubs not to call on their door and this Dub woman had the nerve to stick her foot in the door. She said her father said to her, "if you don't want to lose it, you better take your foot out of the door".

I recall myself going door to door as a kid and after being asked politely by the house holder they were not interested and the Dub would still keep talking until the person at the door would get fed up and abruptly tell us to leave. Looking back on the way some Dubs can be so pushy, I can hardly blame some for being so nasty.
