You'd think the courts and media would have a field day crucifying the WTS... nobody likes them...NOBODY!

U/D,,,It makes you wonder if there is money being exchanged under the table , and it would not surprise me because it is awfully odd.

I do believe there is something going on that the wt is doing to protect their lieing asses and just hope someone steps forward and tells.

I think Daunt has a good point that it's really how it would play out in the media.
JW's feel that they're better than everyone else, more moral and stuff, but most people don't really know what the "leaders" have to say and basically think JW's are just generally weird.
The Catholic Church, on the other hand, gets politically involved to try to push their idea of morals on the rest of us and ends up looking like they think they're more moral than the rest of us.
To people in general, it's probably more "fun" to see those that promote their morality through media and everywhere else get toppled than to see some weird small group get the same thing.
    Just my guess.

That doesn't explain how they seem to be "sue" proof.

    Are they really THAT smart?

The Catholic Church is loaded...they could easily send some mobsters in to kill the "accusers" and don't. Since when has the Catholic Church ever been squeamish? And yet the losses mount, and bankruptcy ensues..

The Dubs...."Teflon Theology" I tell ya...

U/D, it's not even the sueing part that gets me but being able to hide and lie about all the molestings that have gone and and still do . Just the fact that they send these sick F***** home to remolest and are welcomed with open arms back to the cult and no authorities are called so justice cannot be served just makes me sick . Yet it happens all the time and no one can really stop it.

    Daunt and Thom are right.

The Catholic Church is an entity that is perceived as an organization. The witnesses are only seen as two people on the doorstep by the average person. There is no "Organization" to be held accountable for anything. Ironic, aint it?

Only when they are perceived correctly will people think there is any validity of, or need to acknowledge, the evil.

I'm going to throw my two cents in the ring here.

The catholic church gets way more press then the JW's both good and negative. JW might get the occasional article in the newspaper and of course we have the Dateline, W5 and the Australian documentaries on child abuse. The catholic church abuses are mentioned ( it seems ) monthly in the newspapers, they've been the plotlines of popular tv shows and movies shown world wide. Abuse survivors show up on Oprah and other popular daytime talkshows. Novels and non-fiction books are written on the subject. It's on the front pages of magazines. The Catholic church abuse stories are everywhere you turn, it becomes hard to ignore.

Where in comparsion are the JW abuse stories? There is nowhere near the same level of exposure or public outcry because the stories aren't featured prominiently like the catholic ones. Until our stories are front and center and everywhere people turn I don't think things will change much.

So how come the Catholic Church gets hammered on abuse...and the WTS skates?

    WTF!!!

The answer is: the WT found a legal loophole: See the final report of the Berry girls:

But more importantly, the Catholic abusers and their supervisors were paid church employees while the elders of the Jehovah's Witness churches are not. The Catholic victims had a different relationships with that church because they were often altar boys or members of church youth groups or camps, not merely members of the church. Also, they were often abused on church property or on church outings.

off church grounds. And he was not a church official.
The high court said although the criminal statutes require the Jehovah’s Witnesses to report to police any sex abuse against children, they cannot be held liable in civil court if they do not report it.

So, it seems the High Court has no empathy to sexualy abused children and the WT is going to milk this loophole all the way into the sunset.
