Thanks for that. I'd love to disassociate for moral reasons and the same principles for which I left in the first place (one of which was the treatment of D/f's JWs) but it's a helluva risk to take family-wise. I instinctively feel my mother and sister would not shun me at all, despite being staunch JW's but you just never know. The real fly in the ointment would be my mothers sanctimonius husband, who is an elder. I also live far away from them, so the fact I don't live with any of my JW relatives would be another reason for having no loop-holes.
Can inactives be D/F'd?

I am in a similar situation and feel like da'ing. however it is not worth creating extra trouble, just to stand up for your principles.
I have a friend who left a fundamentalist pentecostal religion and went through similar experiences. His family shun him and he feels that are a cult. In the end he decided to move on. Trying to prove them wrong can become just a matter of pride, and can result in falling into the same low behaviour that it the reason for leaving in the first place. -

They seem to do what they want in this regard, Tabby.
My mother, though having not attending a single meeting in most of ten years, was disfellowshipped for smoking when the new witness rules went into effect in the early 70's. I have know of many others who were df'd for sexual sins years after leaving the org.
In other cases they seem to leave you alone - as long as your 'apostate' ideas are not well known that is.
There seems to be a new push to remove those who are inactive with apostate leanings in some cong's now, but no one seems sure it will be universal.
Best advise - just steer clear if u can.

I'd been inactive close to a decade when they came after me to disfellowship me. Here's the post of the letter I sent to the BOE about their actions.
I haven't heard from the elders since I gave them the letter.
