Yep - get your point Carla. Hearing the name 'Jehovah' somehow automatically links one's thinking to the JW and once the name 'Jehovah' is established as the true name of GOD, well.... I think the use of God's personal name is to isolate the JW as the only TRUE religion.

The strange thing is that this name is so anachronistic even the Jews stopped using it long before Christ and the apostles so I don't know why they insist to use it so much, it makes them sound like pre christian Jews. Perhaps they want to emphasize their anti trinitarian understanding.
There is so much that is bizaar in Witness-speak. I remember thinking how odd it was when I first started associating, but after a while you not only get used to it, you start talking that way too. So cool to have a sort of secret language for our super duper, extra special, exclusive little God club. Kind of like the pig-latin we used as kids.

It seperates them from the "evil and misguided" churches that worship Jesus Christ or the trinity. It emphasises the fact that they accept and worship the god of the OT who flooded the world, cast down Babel's tower, caused 2 she-bears to slaughter 42 children, struck the Philistines with hemerroids, heameroids, oh heck, piles!

lol, the title of this thread reminds me of when I used to pray.
I never felt anything and so in an effort to try to sound sincere and genuine, sometimes I would replace "Dear heavenly father Jehovah God" with just plain "Dear God Jehovah", as if this made it any more from the heart.
I just asked my wife about this. I said it doesnt sound right. Jehovah is his name, God is his title. Jeff is my name, dad is my title. You wouldnt call me jeff dad. She said it makes sense to her. I said please give me an analogy. She said its like rice and beans it goes together. She said it makes sense because the wts says it does. Sometimes I dont think she will ever see the light, my dear Jennifer wife.
Maybe it was said but Venus Williams after her English Open vitory the other day got on the mic and declared her retardation to the entire world. She thanked "Jehovah God." I'm so glad I'm not related to her. The entire world should be embarrassed because of her.
