Just wondering if anyone ever did put down MORE hours/placements etc on their report than they actually did.

I know that i did. The reason was that i was pioneering and working full time. It just got too much and i ended up adding hours. I think i also wanted to look good to others. Looking back, i was always trying to please men rather than God.

Yes.... I was "vacation" pioneering" (I know the term dates me) on Martha's Vineyard. There was no one to work with most of the time.... I was positive that Jehovah was going to zap me good for it. No one ever found out...or even cared, now that I think about it.....

Surprisingly I never was crafty enough to think of doing that though it would be fair game since they don't have the right to ask you to show how much time you spend worshipping - as we understood it then- your God it's all between you and Him, that fs reporting is damn rude and shows the deceptive manmade nature of this org. I knew two "annointed" who never gave in reports or practiced the door to door type of preaching.

Yup... all the time. It was the only way I could possibly keep up with the demands from the organization.

The only "embellishment" that I put on my service report was an hour per week of reading to my children (it was actually more than that) which was only supposed to be claimed by the Family Head™. I figured that since I did the work, I should get the credit. I did not count it as RVs or a Bible Study™.

I found out recently though, that the WTS has changed its tune and allows both parents to count ALL the hours they spend brainwashing teaching their children.

Their statistics must really be hurting for them to resort to this!

I was very liberal in how I counted my time, and I'm sure that I reported far more hours than I was legitimately spending.

I find the comment about both parents counting all the time they spend teaching their kids very interesting. I know lots of Witnesses who nver go h to h, but put in time anyway, mostly informal witnessing to time with their kids. I think the hours printed by the Society are terribly skewed.

Nah. To damned honest. But my mom told me I could count to the nearest 15 minutes.

Can I just ask a little question?

How many people in the congregation actually get to see the reports?

I suspect that my mum used to embellish hers, so I asked her and she denied it saying there would be little point because only 1 man in the congregation got to see the reports and it was confidential.

I'm just wondering if I've been lied to again.

I don't know about embellish, but I certainly did some "creative number crunching" through most of my career as a JW. It was an ordeal for me to make a 10 hour month. In over 30 years I never once aux. pioneered. And in the mid 1980's I guess the hours were enough to appoint me as an elder. Once I resigned as an elder I went right back down to 3 or 4 hours a month. If I happened to get more than that, you can bet that a nice portion was spent in a coffe/donut shop. We used to say......."It's time for our return visit on Mr. Dunkin." (refering to Dunkin Donuts).

The last cong. I was in shocked me. The very prominent elders I worked in FS with were the worst (or for that matter, the best) offenders when it came to taking a very extended break. Then one or two calls on the way home!

No matter what.......knocking on peoples doors was the most obnoxious thing for me to do.
