I am embarrassed to disclose this information, but, no, I never embelleshed my reports. I was so stupid when I was a dub. I refused to fill out service reports because I believed it inappropriate to count time dedicated to Jehovah and his kingdom since my whole life was dedicated to Jehovah. I would do this covertly to avoid being conspicuous, and stay absent from meetings to avoid questioning. It was one of the reasons I was disfellowshipped. The elders accused me of being guilty of a rebellious spirit and independent thinking. I am so glad I am gone from there.

The place that I work for her REAL brother is a JW and he will stop by work and drop off the WT and chat for awhile and it is a 1 hour stop for him. Another person I know will make a phone call first before they start out. Of course that is the first stop they make and it is usually out in the boonies and they would start there time from the first knock and all driving time. You are not the only one that has done that.

Oh yeah all the time especially when an Elder told me that any good JW who is leading an exemplary life could turn in one measly hour every month simply for the witness they give in every day life. I don't think I was ever inactive again. I always turned in at least an hour every month regardless of wheather I went out in the field service or not.

Plus it kept the elder's from paying those visits to me.

I lied every month between the age of 15 to 24. I left when I turned 25.

I don't lie on it to make myself look good...

I do it because I'm too lazy to keep up with my placements. I just slap down a resonable number, and call it a day

    Hell ya...

A couple of mags, the number of RV's to go with it and the number of hours needed to complete said RV's plus extras for door to door work.

This reminds me of the congregation I was growing up in. One of our 'Loving Shephards' was quite old and got confused easily. I remember arguing with him that if I placed a bible i could count 66 books on my report. And if i Placed a 12 month subscription I could count it as two 6 month subscriptions. Then if I did place a subscription I could count 24 magazines as well. The guy didn't know what to say. Talk about in a fix. I just kept throwing these arguments at me and he told me he would find out and get back to me. Never did. Probably couldn't remembert he questions. It was all in jest anyways...

This topic is a perennial favorite. Perhaps it should have its own Section here at JWD???

Seriously, I remember how surprised I was to find out, here at JWD, how common this was. Just call me Pollyanna. Some Bros/Sis don't actually knock at the doors, the just pretend to knock so the people in the car waiting think they knocked, then when no one comes to the door (cause they didn't make a sound when 'knocking') they mark it as N.H. and breath a sigh of relief.

The Dubs fake their hours; elders "encourage" this behaviour ("Brother, SURELY you spent at least some time talking to workmates about the kingdom. I'll just put you down for 1 hour") and even when they are actually door knocking, it is the most inefficient operation imaginable (see my old post I went in Field Service (TM) this morning!.

Remember this the next time you hear one of them bragging about their "ONE BILLION HOURS PER YEAR BIBLE EDUCATION WORK".

Glad you liked it, Bikerchic. That morning was entertaining, instructive, and cathartic, all at the same time.

Not all the time, but when I did I did it because I wanted the elders to leave me alone. I used to do so much talking about God at work & didn't count it so I felt justified. Near the time when it was getting obvious I would leave they would ask why I hadn't put in a field service report. I used to say well I do at least 4- 5 hours a day (I couldn't stop talking about all the bad things the witnesses were up to with "christians" work) But I don't think God is keep tabs on me.....they didn't fancy that at all.
