CCAdmin posted a new thread today stating that the CC site will stay open. It appears that everyone was able to work out some differences and put Christian friendship ahead of partisan views and attitudes. This is nice to see, and speaks well of everyone involved.

On the contrary, there is a wide variety of views and beliefs on CC. The biggest thing about the advanced selection, is that the board owner prevents problem people from starting trouble in the first place.
There is no preaching permitted as such, but rather presentation of views, which may include some beliefs. I caused some difficulty with some of my comments. Well, it's better to say that some posters strongly reacted to my style. But, what else is new. So, CC is not a 'yes man' discussion board or choir. Rather, its mission is focused on Christian thinking, teaching, and history. So, it is going to be naturally more narrow in scope than say, JWD. This is why I enjoy both board.

I think what Pole was referring to was the extreme selectivity in allowing new applicants to post on the board. On the thread about CC closing, several of the non-believers on the board stated that they had been refused membership because they did not profess belief in God or Christ. I, on the other hand, was refused membership a few years ago because I was attending a "traditional" Christian church. One wonders what area of belief was left, or what sort of person actually would be accepted for membership. The only group that comes to mind are non-trinitarian Christians of the Bible Student or Unitarian variety, and that is a pretty limited "choir" indeed. My interest is joining at the time was that I was fairly new to the "apostate" thing, and several people I knew or had met at conferences (including yourself, whom I met at BRCI 2001) were posting there and nowhere else (Jim Penton also comes right to mind).
Oddly, at the time I was refused membership in CC for attending a "traditional" church, a well-known "apostate" who used to be the pressroom overseer at Bethel and who was an officer of BRCI (I'm sure you know who I mean) was a member in good standing, and he was a member of the same "traditional" church that I was attending - in fact, he was an elder of that church. So I found it really confusing as to what the standard was. Obviously I survived my rejection , but I would have enjoyed communicating with a lot of the people who post there.

Nothing on BRCI says Catholics and skeptics are banned but it's my experience skeptics are banned.
I was refused permission to post in 2002 but I see Alan F was admitted. Alan, does this mean you are a non trinity Christian now? Or does it mean you have returned to being a Jehovah's Witness? :-)
I think Ros allows people on there she likes and bans people like me she doesn't like. I think BRCI is misrepresenting the Channel C site on their web site. In my opinion, full disclosure of the exclusive nature of the Channel C site needs to be made by BRCI and maybe a short explanation of the apparent exceptions to the Channel C exclusion policy.
Then again, maybe exclusivity is BRCI's policy as well. It probably is.
I never did do rejection well.
I like ya' Gary - no rejection here. I don't always agree, but I feel your pain at times, and can relate.

Thanks Jeff, I appreciate your posts too. I don't have a problem with any of the posters here. I like diversity of opinion and perceptions. That's the only way I can learn. I do appreciate the open access sites. I think we had enough exclusive groups, secret meetings, and rejection as exiting Witnesses. I regret to see an exiting Witness set up and then rejected like BRCI does with Channel C.
I am pleased that it will stay because it's possible to read some very interesting threads there.

It's not as interesting reading today as it was last weekend. They used an old Watch Tower Society trick and rewrote their history:-) Guess they weren't too proud to read their own "Christian" posts. Hahahaha
