Just had a conversation with my wife this morning about the news. She said the world is full of bad things. Just turn on the news and you will see. Thats the mentality of being conditioned by the wts for so long. I told her if there were a news channel that had only good news, it would could run 24/7 and not even get close to reporting all the good news of the day. Its sad when I think my wife cant see the good in "this system of things". Its sort of like shark bites. A few times a year you hear about someone who was swimming and got bit by a shark. Well what if they reported about every single person, every day, who went to the beach and took a swim with no shark bite? They wouldnt be able to fit them all in. If you cant open your eyes and see all the good in the world, all you will see is the bad.
Did you see the news today?

So true!
A news channel that reported good news would go out of business. Those like your wife, my parents (and probably even you and I), wouldn't even watch it.
There is much exiting stuff going on. The wits do have something going in that they get we are part of something systemic. Their system is based in la-la-land, a story about a devil. In reality, the system we are part of is a purely human system, which for most of history has been dominated by conquest, empire, and exploitation. We can change that.

With all these terrorist activities lately its hard not to think that everthing and everone is evil. The WT thrive on bad news
I still have nightmares and still think "what if they are right" but we must concentrate on the good that ppl do in the face of adversity
during the bombings in london, police and hospital staff did a fantastic job, we must remember that the majority of ppl are good its the minority that cause the rest problems.

She said the world is full of bad things.
Oh, like terrorism? People getting killed? Doesn't her religion teach that very soon now Jerhover is going to unleash a terrorist attack on the earth that will be 9/11 two million times over?

Jw's have set the mind in that direction. It serves the purpose of getting people busy in the book sellin' game. I remember many a time, at tense world moments in time, being glued to the tv wondering if UN was about to pounce on BTG before I woke in the morning.
Boy, i don't miss that doomsday thinking.

They do have this inclination to filter out the good news and take the bad so as to create wrong impressions, in fact the world is a better place to live in than it was in Taze Rusell's days people are more educated and civilised. If the news get you down just don't watch them.

80% (Im being generous, it's more than that and I'm not even kidding) of the things my parents and the fellow JW's at my kingdom hall talk about is how bad the world is. Litteral quote, "The world is filled with nothing but disease and death and wicked people". My mouth was wide open. I have yet to meet one wicked evil person in my life yet they're saying EVERYBODY is like this. Sure if I meet Osama that would be pretty high on the evil list but you don't see a freakin osama everyday. It's just terribly sad, further evidence of how wrong they are.

I remember years ago a witness woman was going through some very troubled times personally. Her father died. Then her son came down with cancer and died. Then her youngest daughter came down with Turret's Syndrome and her oldest unwed daughter got pregnant and thumbed her nose at the borg.
She was close to having a nervous breakdown. She told the brothers she could not read or listen to any bad news. She could not even read the W & A. She related the story to me that the elder told her to read only the last paragraphs of every article because they always end on a paradisaic happy note!
I felt so sorry for her. How do you escape bad news when every talk at the KH and every issue of W & A carry dire articles about Satan's world and Armageddon?
Only after leaving the borg have I had the control over my life to focus on the good in this world.
There is plenty of beauty on the earth and healthy wholesome enjoyment and true brotherly love. -
