  The mention by TattooGrrl of her tattoos and the discomfort they seem to produce in the R&F around her prompted these questions:

  *Would the tats be considered to be a possible stumbling block to those "weak in the faith"?
  *If she gets baptised, will pressure be put on her to have them removed?
  *If the elders tell her to do so, if she refuses on the grounds of pain and cost or whatever, would she be DFed or merely seen as weak?
  *Is she likely to get such orders once baptised, kinda like smokers have 6 months to quit?

  And TattooGrrl, please get out of that org - you're too funny and smart to waste your life kowtowing to the whims of people who haven't been out in the real world for 122 years!

  Actually, I suggest you yourself start asking the elders now what they think of your tats and what would be required once you're baptised...

  Pubsinger I am shocked you know you have to pay to see that!!! :) Actually they say your porn name is you first pets name and the name of the street you grew up on so mine would be Female Saddle. Hee Hee I think I'm destined for porn with that name.

  Anyways getting my tats removed is out of the question they are large cover a good percentage of my body and are in color. Therefore it would take a lifetime to get them completely removed and a hell of a lot of money. But I went out to dinner with two elders tonight they said they wouldn't tell me to cover them that it was my choice. So far I have choosen to cover the majority of them. I personally don't feel like scaring everyone. Although I think the odds of me finding a nice JW brother are slim to none. Whats that saying guys want a girl next door type on the outside and a slut in the bedroom. Too bad I'm just a slut. Hee hee just kidding, but I do not sport my handcuff bracelettes in the kingdom hall but there is always tuesday's meeting for that.

  That's entirely what I'm worried about, TattooGrl - that they say now that all you need to do is cover them. But, I've been in authoritarian religious circles before and know that the first conversation on something that bothers someone in leadership is never the last. They don't control you now, but with enough teaching and convincing that they have "the Truth (tm)" they might eventually, and the removal, no matter how hard, painful and costly it may be, may become the only focus of the "relationship" between you and them.

  And Pubsinger, sorry for making you snap to attention like that!

  I meant to write "Tattoos" in the Subject line specifically to avoid such confusion - I didn't want to trivialise what I see as being an important issue.

  saw on Tv this lady got rid of this little fairy on her arm. Took six seperate visits. It was about 1/8 the size of my smallest tattoo and it was in black and white color is almost impossible to remove. I'm telling you getting them removed is seriously not an option. And if it comes down to that then fine I will leave but I do not see that coming. I don't see the harshness that everyone describes. Plus the elders wife and two daughters got there belly pierced and the one daughter wants to get a little tattoo. Anyways I will show all the tats on Tuesday and report the findings to everyone.

  I did have a talk with one member about them and he said that he could never get them. But I explained how I love to wake up in the morning and see my favorite pictures in bright color forever imprinted under my skin. It makes me smile. My body is a temple and damn it I want to decorate mine. Ok I'm done now going to bed. Bu bye
