Speaking of budgies and bird brutality, I've heard somewhere that the reason wild budgerigars are always green is because when a colour mutation occurs in an individual bird, the rest of the flock will attack and kill it before it gets a chance to breed.

Interesting - didn't know that! However budgies aren't wild or native here in Britain and this one was grey and white. If it had been green maybe it would have survived. I can't believe one minute we were stroking the little feller and the next it was dead.
