Will the anointed remnant survive Armageddon?

I always thought that was what the Society teaches. In fact, haven't there been discussions about how we know the end has to be near because the number of the anointed remnant is decreasing, but there still have to be a few on the earth when Armageddon comes to help get the educational work organized in the new world?

Well, I ran across this article today from the 9-1-89 WT pages 20 and 21, paragraphs 12 and 13. I was attending back then. Don't know how I missed it!

...."Some of the anointed remnant have thought of surviving and living on to welcome back such resurrected faithful ones who died before Pentecost 33 C.E. Will the anointed be thus privileged?

This would not be necessary. The great crowd of tribulation survivors will be on hand in ample numbers to take care of the situation and to acquaint the resurrected ones with the 'new earth' under the 'new heavens.' Even now, the great crowd is being organized for this. Today, when Jesus' spiritual brothers on earth reportedly number less than 9,000, the survivors from among them would in any case be too few to take care of all the preparatory work leading up to the general resurrection. Here, then, is where the great crowd, whose number runs into the millions, will serve excellently. And such a privilege is doubtless reserved for them."

How can they make this $@#% up like they got the inside scoop and keep a straight face? Their older story when they were all part of the "anointed" was that the patriarchs like Abraham Isaac and Jacob were gonna take care of things for 'em here on earth, hanging out in San Diego, after they all beamed up.

Just to clarify, the "anointed" more specifically the "faithful and discreet slave" must be present through Armageddon.

That does not mean they have to survive it.

The WTS has never stated there would be a period that the FDS would be absent until Jesus returns in judgement (post-Armageddon): " Happy is that slave if his master on a rriving finds him doing so."

I remember that 1989 Watchtower article. I felt at the time that they were hedging their bets.

Ezekiel, all they need is a bit of "new light". After all, the scripture doesn't actually say that the "Faithful and Discreet Slave" are of the anointed.

When the WTBTS was conceived, they taught that all its members would be part of the 144,000 who would go to heaven. One of the benefits of being a JW was the assurance of heavenly life. As the number of JW's increased, the WTBTS realised they had a problem. So in 1935, they invented another 'class' of Christians and claimed that the number of those going to heaven had reached a fulfillment. They then had to change their teaching on the future state of mankind. They now teach that those who will live on the 'new earth' are the fortunate ones because they can live as families. The 144,000 must give up the pleasures of the 'new earth' in order to reign with Christ. Very few JW's want to make this sacrifice.

Just about everything about the WTBTS teaching regarding the 144,000 states that they are 'worthy ones' appointed by God. For them to be considered it would only be logical that they would have to prove themselves by their 'fruit'. An examination of their 'fruit' shows the following about their practices before 1935:

    * They voted and took part in government

    * They were allowed to participate in war

    * They could smoke

    * They could have blood transfusions

    * They believed Jesus died on a cross

    * They were allowed to worship Jesus

    * They believed all JW's would go to heaven

    * Believed the 'higher powers' mentioned in Romans 13:1 were God & Jesus

    * Believed Christ's invisible return occured in 1874

Why would Christ choose people with such pagan beliefs and practices to live and reign with Him? If what the WTBTS says about Proverbs 4:18 is true that they keep getting 'New Light' then why doesn't God wait until the end of this system and then choose those having the purest doctrines and practices to reign with Christ instead of those who still were polluted by this world?

i think this is one of the flashing new lights.

i think gerrit lösch told at the convention that some have to be present, because "for them the time of the tribulation has to be shortened" or something in this effect.

I find it difficult to read these types of theoretical posts anymore, it's just all too obvious to see through the bs lies and twisted reasonsings. I've given up trying to keep up with their "new light", even if just for amusement purposes, cause it just aint funny anymore. Frog

Ask yourself this question instead. If they were all that was left after Armageddon would you want to be there with them? My answer, Hell No! (no pun intended......sort of).
