I enjoyed some of those games when I was in my early teens. Lots of fun with friends. Never got into D & D, but I did on some of the other games that TSR had out at the time. Remember Gamma World?

Ok, any non-geeks might as well move on, cause I'm gonna get really nerdy here.

Honey? Is that you? I knew my husband was spying on me on this forum.

the couple who created that game were in her congregation and when they became "rich", they left the "truth"

I smell a JW urban legend.

I smell a JW urban legend here

It was even reported in People magazine that they were JWs. They were in the Delavan Congregation in Wisconsin.

I heard a JW urban legend on D&D. I think it was that the parents discovered kids playing D&D and had them throw it out. To their surprise the very next day the game board and pieces were back under the bedroom in their room, to which they say is attributed to demonic powers. I think its bs and if it even remotely ever happened, the kids were the ones who grabbed the game from the garbage because they didn't want it thrown out. When they got busted the second time they probably just blamed the demons. lol Maybe this is a spinoff from another JW urban legend, pherhaps involving an ouiji board, im not certain.

I know a few more JW urban legends ive heard over the years. It would be interesting to see how many are out their. Most are ridiculous and obviously products of vivid indoctrinated imaginations.

rebel 8 so this gary guy is/was a jw?

I really don't know. Someone on that other forum (the one I imbedded above) is claiming to have received an email from him that mentions Jehovah and Jesus. If you google his name and Jehovah, you find mention of him being a JW elsewhere too. Could be a leged, could be not.

Wierd, isn't it? Let's see...we have a transvestite transsexual transracial pedophile, a transvestite who keeps changing his name (once to just a symbol, no name), a guy who created a controversial game and may or may not have been DFd for it, twin tennis players who run around with flags and go virtually topless in public.....yeah, great claims to fame.

I was never allowed to play D&D, i was too young anyway... i was also never allowed to watch "Knightmare", a quiz show on TV where kids had to guide bindfolded teammates around a comuter simulated castle... nor was i permitted to watch "The Crystal Maze" because the baald-headed presenter looked creepy and it had a crystal ball in it at the end (ooooh so demonic)...

I think one of the main reasons JWs and other religions may be so adamantly against it is because usually, your character can pick from one of many "gods" to worship.

If played properly however, D&D encourages critical thinking, problem solving, math skills, and teamwork.
