But there are people here who believe in Buddha
Buddha was an actual man who was born in northern India in I think about 500 BCE - 500 years before Christ.
Remeber, the Hebrews/Jews only inhabited a very small area in the near East. Jesus was not born until about 2BCE and died about 29 AD (I know someone will correct my dates for me). Christianity didn't become popular until Constantine in the 3rd century AD.
Buddha, meaning Awakened One, taught much the same things and Jesus did. The tenants of Buddhism are simple and powerful. As were Jesus's teachings
Iconic relecs are popular amoungst Christiantity too, look at the Shroud of Touran, the graves of the popes and apostles, etc.
Jehovah's witnesses are incredibly superstitious: Don't shop/buy at a thriftstore or a garage sale or you might pick up something that's demon inhabited. Smurfs (from the Smurf cartoons) are demonized. Etc.
As far as bathing in the Ganges to wash away sins and hopefully never have to reincarnate again, is no different than being Baptized a Christian and accepting Christ redemption for original sin of mankind.
Buddha, as Christ, would be aghast at what religion and superstition their followers have built up around their teachings.
