The less I seek my source for some definitive The closer I am to fine - Indigo Girls
Or to ask another related question, why don't the WBTS convert all their publicatins to PDF format and make them downlowdable from their website, for a "donation" via credit card? One obvious problem is with this whole "donation" concept - does a suggested donation become a "price" making it a business transaction and therefore taxable?
Q: How do you know a Dub loyal to "Jehovah's Organisation" is lying?
A: Their lips are moving.

i agree with you- ck this out about 4yrs ago the wt was listed in a Printing
Trade Mag- i used to use it in my talks , but i trashed almost all my wt material since leaving HOW DUMB OF ME
anyway the WT is listed as the second largest printing outfit in the USA- they are only second to -- guess who
UNITED STATES GOV PRINTING OFFICE
the WT prints more material than anyone in the USA only behind the USA Printing Office
and as we speak i'm on a gov contract where all the agencies are under presidental order to move as much info to the net as possible so folks can go straight to the net to get info from teh gov
forms, policy, etc that you would normally go stand in line somewhere they are working overtime to meet gov deadlines to have xxx% of material on the net
i was in a guys office just yesterday who is doing WEB stuff for the blind so that they too can surf the net and reach gov agencies
the software is known as DRAGON SOFTWARE it talks and it sounds terrible , but for a blind person it is the sweet sound of Kinney Gee- smile
yet the wt has done nothing to make thier material and vast research library availible to every man woman and child, elder, publisher etc
they want complete control of the FLOW OF INFO
and for all you LURKERS out there you need to take heed and ask yourself the tough questions and accept the answer even if it hurts

JT,
I was just talking about this very subject with my wife this morning.

if they did do this..how long would it take to hack the site and change beliefs?????????????///
If the WTS had as its primary goal the preaching of the good news of the kingdom, they would put each new magazine online. The fact that they don't means the message is not the most important thing to them. Consider some possible objections, and how they fall apart:
Objection 1: Someone could crack in and change the wording.
Reality: They already have some literature on their web site, no problems. Even if it became a problem, they would quickly restore.
Objection 2: Not everyone has a computer.
Reality: Not eveyone had a radio in the 1930s, but they still broadcast radio programs. Besides, you use different methods to read different types of persons. In fact, owning a computer tends to put a person in an upper-income bracket, the same sorts of persons least likely to be reached via the door-to-door method. The Web would be perfect for such ones.
Objection 3: It's too time-consuming.
Reality: Of course it isn't. Bethel is full of time-consuming tasks that get done when they need it to get done.
Here the WTS has the perfect new medium to broadcast their message far and wide and they ignore it. Why? Here are my thoughts:
1. They are too wary of the Net in general to totally embrace it. It would send the wrong message to the friends.
2. The preaching work is primarily for the purpose of keeping the friends busy and tracking their activities, as well as bringing in money to HQ. That's right, the primary reason is NOT to spread the message. If that were the primary reason, the Net would be embraced immediately. No, they want the friends to have to bring the magazines by hand to householders. It won't do at all to have the householder bring up the latest copy on the Web. No money. No busywork for the publishers. Won't do at all.
Lurkers, ask yourself if this is the case and, if so, why isn't it the primary purpose of the WTS to spread the good news?
