Great posts, and good thinking all.

But the REAL reason they will never stop producing the books and mags, think how many brothers get their jollies out of being the Book and Magazine Servant.

Yes, friends, they get to 'lord it over the flock'.

If you are not 'strong in the truth,' they will not let you order special pubs or else it will be on 'back stock' forever. James you are right, they should put it all out there on the net but they won't because they want tot control the flow of information. Scary.

I have to agree with Seeker,

Clearly if your stated objective is notification of as many people as possible of a specific message, the Watchtower is entrenched in the 1900's.

Telephone witnessing in the last part of the 20th century would have been far more effective than door to door work. In my years of service, I would estimate that 20% of the houses I called on, actually opened the door, even on weekends.

Using the internet would also assure that everyone got the same quality of delivery of the message, as opposed to one person getting an articulate person and the next getting someone who knew nothing more than to ask for a donation for the magazines which were probably then not read.

I think you are supposed to "seek out those deserving" as christ stated......how exactly do you seek out on the net. It is impossible..with banner ads on yahoo??

you would have to rely on curiosity and how many people are really curios about religion now???

In case you morons haven't noticed, the Watchtower does have a website with literature.

Oh that's right, I forgot. The WT does have literature online!

The brochures with all the simple language any two year old could understand and the beautiful color pictures!

"Yes Virginia there is a God. His name is Jehovah."

How about the real meat and potatoes of the religion? When are they going to post articles about how to treat a 'disfellowshipped' person on line, or worse yet, how to treat a 'former member of the faith' whom they lovingly call apostates?

Yes GR that's right. All of the goodies are kept for when you start attending the meetings and get love bombed that way you're too busy to think of the right questions to ask.

Yes, the literature contains simple language. Isn't that how Jesus taught? Didn't he say we should be like children?

We don't lovingly call you apostates. The Bible does. There is never any need for disfellowshipping if one is humble and follow Jehovahs path.

NYT, Jesus talked about seeking him - he told people to come directly to him, he didn't say anything about a third party bureaucracy to vet candidates.

GodRules, you rude sod! The WT does not provide all its literature on the net, just a few bits and pieces that won't cut into revenue.

Contrast that site which started this thread. The people running that site say they draw their doctrine from the Bible, and the Bible is the only literature they provide, totally free. The Tower says you need the Bible AND "Christian Publications" and, surprise, surprise! they sell you those publications.

Q: How do you know a Dub loyal to "Jehovah's Organisation" is lying?
    A: Their lips are moving.

Pity you don't follow the Watchtower's path, GR. You're here associating with apostates, against the Society's will. That makes you an apostate, just one who hasn't been caught yet. Just remember, Jehovah sees in secret and rewards in public.

In case you hadn't noticed, I specifically pointed that out in my first post in this thread. Yet you didn't comment on why they don't put each Watchtower and Awake on their site as they come out. Why do they avoid doing that, when it would be a chance to increase their circulation far beyond anything they have now?
