to be truly a free country the rights of religions to practice must exist, however the rights of individuals must also
exist at the same time....when a conflict between individual and religious rights arises, the individual must win.
so if a muslim arbitration allows the beating of a wife, her right not to be beaten must be first.

K, I am not Canadian, but I would think the people in general would want ONE law for all the people.
It just doesn't make sense. Now, if both parties agree to go to an arbitrator for civil matters instead of going through the courts, I can see that, but I don't know if it should be based using any religious laws.
Quite an interesting issue...please keep us updated.
So who gets to choose which set of laws are to be used...?
