You are right, they aren't the only ones who are wrong. What I think makes them worse, is that they leave lasting scars for what they teach. The tear families apart, people die for what they teach, the emotional and spiritual black mail is beyond words. They do all this, while proclaiming to be better than everyone else. We know that we may never find any religion that is total truth, but when they cost innocents, that's where I find major fault.
You know, Witnesses haven't cornered the market on being wrong.

Wrong as in "That turtleneck is not flattering" or wrong as in "Get that sweater off, it's strangling you!"? Because the WTBTS has set themselves up as the only way to truth, they hold themselves to a higher account. They deserve the criticism levelled at them. There are a few other religions who exercise similar control over their members, but certainly not all. I don't think all other religions are dangerous, maybe just unflattering.
And sure, there are other giants to slay, but this board happens to congregate people who were wronged by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.

I like what jgnat had to say (so what's new?). ;)
There are many wrongs in the world, and we can't right them all. I have chosen to work in two fields, with rape victims and homeless children. Those are the wrongs I focus on.
The JWs are not like most religions. They destroy families, and control lives much more than most mainstream religions, and no, those of us who were raised in did NOT choose to have our perceptions of reality warped, and to be brought up in their oppressed society. I have never been one to try to convert folks out of it, but I have found that when 'worldly' people ask about JW, they are mostly shocked and gratified to learn the 'truth about the lie'.

As more and more critics of the JW religion came out of the woodwork, read all sorts of anti-JW banter, and then would come into the now defunct JW yahoo chat room to parrot the criticism they read, I eventually got really sick of it. So for 50% amusement and 50% to correct certain mistakes JW critics make, I decided I would facetiously present myself as a JW apologist and answer the critics with blunt, pro-JW rhetoric.
This accomplished a few things. Primarily, for me, it was super funny. Also, certain inaccurate or at least opinionated and not exact charges against the NWT or CT Russell or whatever that are circulated on the internet were responded to, cause heck, I believe in truth even if I gotta defend the Witnesses, and thirdly I found that the best way to prevent people from thinking of becoming a Witness convert is to act like one.

Yours is an interesting post and, very clever. To go incognito to ferret out the truth in opinion and people. Smashing!

I just realized in a world that is so full of wrong, who am I to care what others think and to judge people for their beliefs.
What a great point!

I have a former Morman friend who would say the same about his religion and I suspect if I ask people who used to be in other religions, groups and belief it or not, even other employers. You would hear the same thoughts. When we get into something strong and accept it's teachings, then leave and learn something was wrong, this is the emotions we feel and the scars we have.

Momons, yes. They have marks of a high-control group. Members assume that once baptized, a former member would naturally want to return one day. Employers? Only the high-control freaks. Not all employers are high-control freaks. Neither are all churches.

Things are never as bad or as good as people think they are. There will always be variables that you do not know in something that can influence your opinion about that something. I'm really starting to realise this now, but, finding every little thing wrong and putting that as the only thing the witnesses do is just plain wrong. Yes they have much crap in their teachings but hey, they do help ignorant people that were destroying their lives and the lives of others and helped them to stop abusing others. May not be the best way to do it but they do do things that aren't terribly evil. If the religion isn't for you, then that's it, it isn't for you. But if you spend much of your life trying to reinforce it you're forcing an idea into your head much the same way as JW's. Just take the information as it is and deal with the problems as it is. If you start to notice that you get most of your solice from the WTS being wrong, then you might have to rethink your position on things.
