I just heard through some ex-witnesses that it is no longer okay for witnesses to celebrate wedding anniversaries. I was very surprised to hear this. I am sure it has been discussed here but I cannot find anything on the matter. Can someone please direct me to the thread if there is one?
Also, they said it is now okay to toast. Is this info accurate?
Thanks

I haven't heard any of this, I'm completely out of the loop.
I'd be interested in finding out if this is true also, and the reasons behind what they could possibly have found wrong with celebrating a matrimonial union

After all, G Hoover blessed the union, didn't He? ;-P

I'm starting to think the info I was given is not true. I've been searching google and haven't found anything to support it.

The society has always said "there is no need to celebrate either" - speaking of birthdays and wedding anniversaries. I don't have the reference right now.
However, there has been no information on wedding anniversaries becoming a no no. In fact I'd say they're more popular than ever; it's the only celebration we get to partake in and seem normal. Your ex-witness friends either misunderstood something or got one persons opinion.

It is ok for Jw to celebrate Wedding Anniversary's. I know, for I am one of them

Is it okay because the Bible says so or because the WTS says the Bible says so. Defd, if you examine the reasons for why birthdays are unacceptable per the WTS, you will find that the same principles apply to anniversaries. Actually, the WTS has shut down anniversary parties in congregations I have attended under the guise of giving undue honor to humans.
