defd, you are deceiving yourself if you think that by not inviting them that you won't still be stumbling them.

I haven't heard this at all.

But if it's true... DARN!!! One less celebration!

I'm so very close to leaving this joy-less organization! Can't hardly wait!

Well that would be the last straw!lol After all, it's the only damn thing they can celebrate. And around here, it honestly look like they are putting all their repressed festive needs into those. It becomes big congregation parties like christmas, birthdays and all that jazz wrapped up under the allowed little name of a wedding anniversary.lol

I always celebrated my anniversary as a JW, and my former PO had a big bash at his house for their 25th anniversary. lots of good and

While they may say it's not necessary to celebrate an anniversary I'd be surprised to see them come out and prohibit it.

While the WTS has not forbidden celebrating wedding anniversaries, they do "caution" about large groups, alcoholic beverages, and stumbling others.

So it is up the individual elder bodies how they want to apply it. Thus it varies from congregation to congregation.

I do remember them counciling that anniversarys not become replacements for christmas, etc.. cuz a lot of families started making it a gift day for the whole family..

which I thought was stupid.. we always did that.. we couldnt' celebrate anything else.. so we celebrated the beginning of our family.. and everyone got presents.. well up until the divorce any way

So what do you do now? Send each other writs? Sorry for my warped sense of humour but I think it would be fun to send writs and insults to people once in a while.

I think that even the WTS knows you can only bind the straitjacket but so tight before it causes a revolution. Outright banning of anniversaries would make them look even weirder to "worldly" people, and probably wake up quite a few of the sleeping members who are just coasting along, to the inanities of the organization. In fact, I almost hope this IS true, it might jar my wife's eyes open-just celebrated our happy 5th this past weekend, got her a jewelry box (5th traditional gift = wood) and went out to eat.

My mother, who isn't a JW, decided to ban their wedding anniversaries herself. To make my father see how idiotic it is to ban every other celebration. He choose to screw everything for his family, she decided to screw to one day he is aloud.

Good idea. Now all she needs to do on anniversaries is cook something he hates and then nag him to mow the lawn. Oh yeah, and on memorialâ„¢ night she should give him only unleavened bread and wine for dinner. W
