hmmm, I'm not Canadian, but I use to visit my cousins in Canada when I was a kid .... I still remember your flag BEFORE it was a maple leaf...

Seems like politicians everywhere are just about the same.... pitiful.

Wise? HAHAHHAA How did I manage that with a Stompin' Tom Connors song? This song is like nails down a chalkboard. I had to hear it played over and over and over weekend after weekend after weekend when I displayed my artwork at an Artist's Coop in our local mall. But you have to admit, if an American wants to understand the Canadian psyche, analyse this song! (Hint: it has a lot to do with beer).

I'm a career civil servant. I wouldn't consider myself WISE about politics, more like cynical. We're up for a new premier next election. Who knows who we will get?

I must admit, Canadians know much more about American politics than Americans themselves. With that in mind, we Americans are hard pressed to keep up with Canadian politics. But I feel your anger!

Come on folks, I am surprised. There's a lot of anger here,,, what songs help you express it?

The only angry canadian song I know is the Demic's song "I Wanna Go To New York City" which was intended as sarcasm, not a weekend getaway suggestion.

I think that this song would apply to a great deal of politicians regardless of the nation of orgin.

The Package by A Perfect Circle

    Clever got me this far
    Then tricky got me in
    Eye on what i'm after
    I don't need another friend
    Smile and drop the cliche
    'Till you think I'm listening
I take just what I came for
Then I'm out the door again

    Peripheral on the package
    Don't care to settle in
    Time to feed the monster
    I don't need another friend
    Comfort is a mystery
Crawling out of my own skin
Just give me what I came for, then I'm out the door again

Lie to get what I came for
Lie to get just what I need
Lie to get what I crave
Lie and smile to get what's mine

    Eye on what i'm after
    I don't need another friend
Nod and watch your lips move
If you need me to pretend
Because clever got me this far
    Then tricky got me in
I'll take just what I came for
Then I'm out the door again

Lie to get what I came for
Lie to get what I need now
Lie to get what I'm craving
Lie and smile to get what's mine

    Give this to me
    Mine, mine, mine
    Take what's mine
    Mine, mine, mine
    Take what's mine
    Mine, mine, mine

Lie to get what I came for
Lie to get what I need now
Lie to get what I'm craving
Lie to smile and get what's mine

    Give this to me
    Take what's mine
    Mine, mine, mine
    Take what's mine
    Give this to me

Take what's mine, take what's mine, mine...
Take what's mine, take what's mine, take what's mine,
    This is mine, mine, mine

my #1 all time favorite song to absolutely crank till my ears bleed when I'm incredibly pissed off or need to vent some serious steam is Killing in the Name Of, by Rage Against the Machine. I don't have time to get the full lyrics as I'm about to leave for class, but the last two minutes of the song consists of a really hard Rage groove with Zach de la Rocha singing/screaming:

F**k you I won't do whatcha tell me!
F**k you I won't do whatcha tell me!
F**k you I won't do whatcha tell me!
F**k you I won't do whatcha tell me!

    and finally

    Motherf**ker!!!

that song really brings out the rebellious side in me that is usually hidden beneath a thick layer of self-deprecating intellectualism and sarcasm. I wonder why?

hey God, there's nothing left for me to hide.

i lost my ignorance, security and pride.

i'm all alone in a world you must despise.

hey God, i believed that promises, your promises and lies

    terrible lie

Whoa! That is just how it feels, too.

That is so true. I just felt it was time we did a bit of complaining about our government, and anything else someone wanted to throw in the mix. Canadians love bashing their politicians ... hehe

Yah, Stompin' Tom is best in small doses. I always think of Bud the Spud from the bright red mud, rollin' down the highway smilin'! And the spuds are big on the back of Bud's rig, cause they're from Prince Edward Island !

That song made me feel queasy. It's scary, to think of the people in power, and that is mostly how they seem to be. Where are the statesmen(women)?

    Sassy,

Yes, it's more important. Love you, too, gurl.

    T_S

I will have to listen to that one.

Yah, that's how I feel about Liar. Well, JWs are taught to do that,,, notice there is less sarcasm generally in the 'world', than there was among those at the KH? hmmm, interesting, huh? Rage Against .. is a great band, too often overlooked.
