Well, I was going to add to this, but hit the wrong button. (duh) So, how do I find NWT comparisons that are not exact changes in it? I only know of John 1:1. Are there more in here, and is there an easy way to find them? Thanks for your help. Hubert

OK, look up all scriptures in your regular bible where "worship" and "Christ" are together, as well as "worship" "Father", "God", "Lord", etc.. A good little bible search engine does this quite nicely.
Next, look up the greek word for worship. How is it translated in each case?

Use it as a tool for furture work with Bible commentaries, lexicons, and studies. Don't just say "Aha! The one side says THIS and the other says THAT!"
Otherwise you might as well sell it on ebay and get 30 bucks for it.

Did you get the first edtion (1969) with the purple cover, or the second edition (1985) with the dark blue cover?
The first thing to do is to memorize the Greek alphabet which is listed inside the front cover. Get to know by heart the sounds of each of the letters, then you can sound out the Greek words in the interlinear text.
This will get you use to the greek words and prepare you for further study.

Contrary to what other posters have said, I think doing that is very therapeutic. I like looking at how they hacked stuff up. Truly a lack of appreciation for ancient text at the expense of maintaining control of the cult members.

If you have the Watchtower Library cd you can search for instances of :I am" in the New Testament and compare those references with John 8:58 as it is rendered in Greek.
Also search the words "worship" and "obeisance" and compare in the same way.
Be sure to check how consistent other bible translations are in their transliteration of the Greek words.
Then ask yourself why did the NWT committee fail to be consistent in their rendering into English.

Wrong, Honesty. Don't ask yourself. Ask a decent JW apologist or some other group that doesn't believe Jesus was YHWH. Do some research. DO NOT say "Aha! The KIT says ONE thing and the NWT says ANOTHER!" The translation process is not dependant on a word-for-word literal understnding of the simple greek words, a la an interlinear. One of such is one of many tools used to determine the translation.

Who said it was to 'prove' anything? In the 8th chapter of John the NWT translation renders egw eimi as "I am" in evry instance it occurs except at verse 58. I just wonder why. John 8:58 Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am." eipen autoiv Ihsouv, Amhn amhn legw umin, prin Abraam genesqai egw eimi. egw = I, me, my eimi = to be, to exist, to happen, to be present
