To all you people who naively think that the geezers at Watchtower Central are slacking off
from 1914, I've got bad news:
They are emphasizing it strongly, as if to quell any thoughts about its abandonment.
The Oct 1 Watchtower with the cover "Do You Recognize the Sign?" stresses 1914 even
beyond what they used to say about it. Previously, if they mentioned war as a sign of the
"last days" it might start with WW1 and breeze thru WW2, Vietnam, Korea and the Cold War.
Not this time! No other conflict is specifically mentioned! Apparently, that trouble
that Mr. Hitler and the Soviets gave us was no big deal!
The rest of the article follows this same bizarre pattern - as if nearly everything important in the
world happened in 1914 - and the rest is just details. AIDS you say? Ah, but remember
the Spanish Flu of 1918?
Actually, that's the most bizarre point of all: they fanatically obsess with a set of events
that are no longer in human memory, the 'generation of 1914' having been buried.
They're stuck with all their old doctrines and can't change them, no matter what
the evidence or craziness of it all. The Watchtower's "Counter-Reformation"
is now firmly in place, complete with retrogression into the 'no college' days.
Any change can't be risked now, they're losing contributions and growth
and no disturbance to the congregations can be risked, no matter how stale
or sterile things are.
to you who still hope otherwise, Buena Suerte!
