What happens when

Here in the arctic northeast we have lots of dangerous driving conditions in the winter. Meetings used to be cancelled maybe once a year. The night meetings were the worst b/c it's so dark and the snowplows aren't out.

They said reminders from the platform each yr. they hesitated to cancel mtgs and people should just stay home if it was really bad in their neighborhood. But then they were looked down upon if they didn't show and the mtg hadn't been officially cancelled.

The mtgs were cancelled by a phone relay system--each book study host would call all those in his/her group. They said it was practice for the big A--so we would know how to contact each other to signify it was time to go into hiding.

I don't remember making up the missed sessions. FS was never cancelled. If they cancelled FS every time there was bad weather, there'd be no FS.

When I was a kid, I used to pray to God that there would be a big enough snow storm to cancel the meeting, if it didn't work, we went at the Hall and I prayed for the power to go out so it could end. Sometimes it did and my little heart started beating really fast in total delight.lol

I live in Wisconsin. Rarely did we have mtgs. cancelled when there was a blizzard. I remember a Circuit Ass.in winter. Blizzard!! Brothers still went; when they left to go home on the interstate they were picked up by the police and all taken to the station to stay over until the storm passed. People laughed about this - you were looked down on if you didn't "brave" the storm. I thought we were to use sound minds?? I agree w/Blondie about the other mtgs. Juni

Our hall was really old when I was a kid. Electricity outages were common. The meeting would continue although we had no power. Brothers would position their cars in front of the windows and shine their headlights in. Torches would be whipped out. The funniest was when it came to the song. Because no one knew the words and everyone was out of tune...
