Talk about a tough task. Sting's a huge favorite of mine. I'm going to try and slip a few less obvious ones in here...

    THE POLICE

    -Every Breath You Take

    -Tea in the Sahara

    -Roxanne

-Don't Stand So Close to Me

    -Wrapped Around Your Finger

    STING

-It's Probably Me (not the one from "10 Summoners' Tales"--the one with Eric Clapton on the Lethal Weapon-3 Soundtrack)

-Little Wing (Jimi Hendryx cover on the "Nothing Like the Sun" album)

-La Belle Dame Sans Regrets (from "Mercury Falling")

-Mad About You (from "Soul Cages")

    -Moonlight (from the "Sabrina" Soundtrack)

(Prophecor, I want you to know I am now emotionally exhausted from having to make those decisions. I'll be lying down...)

I truly appologise to you, as well as all others who in a vain attempt to try and narrow down even 5 favorites. I know I should have left you at least room for 10, even 20 would've have been a distinct impossibility, however......

Angel Eyes & My One & Only Love. From the soundtrack Leaving Las Vegas I Hung My Head

    The Munificent 7

    Still Know Nothing About Me

    Dessert Rose

    Fragile

    Roxanne

    Fields of Gold

    Spirits in the Material World

Russians (remember the cold war? I think Sting had a bigger influence on its conclusion than Regan did. *prepares for a possible flaming*)

    Wrapped Around Your Finger

    We'll Be Together

    Oops, that was 6.

    Sting - Russians lyrics

In Europe and America, there's a growing feeling of hysteria
Conditioned to respond to all the threats
In the rhetorical speeches of the Soviets
Mr. Krushchev said we will bury you
I don't subscribe to this point of view
It would be such an ignorant thing to do
If the Russians love their children too

How can I save my little boy from Oppenheimer's deadly toy
There is no monopoly in common sense
On either side of the political fence
    We share the same biology
    Regardless of ideology
Believe me when I say to you
I hope the Russians love their children too

    There is no historical precedent
To put the words in the mouth of the President
There's no such thing as a winnable war
It's a lie that we don't believe anymore
Mr. Reagan says we will protect you
I don't subscribe to this point of view
Believe me when I say to you
I hope the Russians love their children too

    We share the same biology
    Regardless of ideology
What might save us, me, and you
Is that the Russians love their children too

*gonna look this song up on Napster*

And how wonderfully he was able to capture the mournful dirge of the music of Russia in his compilation. That tune so distinctly personified a time in our history that I feel many of our younger audience can't comprehend.

The day they tore down the wall in Germany, he was as if dumbfounded the day he was on Saturday Night Live. Suddenly his song no longer had the same meaning as it did before the wall came down, bringing about the end of Communism in the Soviet Union almost seemingly immediately afterward. It was a moment I'll never forget. He was nearly speechless on SNL when that event took place.
