>Hey Rex,
It just sounded like you were describing religion! :)

Naturalism and Christianity are both 'religions' as far as both require belief when the logic breaks down. Naturalists (usually) just refuse to admit it!

The fact is xtians rely on science every day, from starting the ignition on their car to switching on the lights at their churches to receiving medical care. The world of science is accepted as a fact and so xtians feel they have to integrate such into their belief systems. Like the WTS and H. Morris with their 'scientific proofs' for the global Flood some 4500 years ago.

Indeed, religionists dont find us so evil when they have to rely on our scientific methodologies to cure their diseases or heat their homes!

In shiner's world, disease has no right to inhabit the body of the faithful. W faith and denial of actually having a disease, it has no choice but to leave. Oh sure, medicine may be used, but that is only because of imperfect faith. It is always good for a believer to deny the sickness, as it is an exercise of his faith, making it stronger, eventualy getting to the point where disease will not touch the believer, unless it fills the will of god.

Really, where have I said this? What do you base your assumption on?

Same questions as above....

Kid A,
What do you base your assumption on when it comes to, "evil when they have to rely on our scientific methodologies". Where have any of us 'relgionists' made a statement that gives you the idea that science is evil?

Cygnus,
In what way is Morris wrong in his interpretation of the evidence he believes favors creationism?

>Shining one lives in an alternate universe, where science is a religion that is based on faith w no thing to support any of it's beliefs.
"Nothing to support the beliefs" of which scientists?
>In his universe, religion is daily proven through experiments in laboratories; demons isolated, labeled, placed in cold storage. Jesus regularly makes the rounds. God can be reached via special astrophones.
Really, where have I said this?
>The real miracle is that shiner can actually access this universe, that his words don't come out backwards, upside down or as gibberish.
Why, thank you. I am glad that you so clearly understand where I am coming from!
>Logically, as soon as he touched anything on this side, there should be an anihalative reaction, similar to the reaction of matter to antimatter. Since none of us eartlings can see into that universe, we just have to trust that all he says about his universe is true.
Where have I said anything like this? Unless you are demonstrating your own lack of logical methodology you have made statements that are idiotic. LOL

Those who cannot bear the burden of science are free to ignore its precepts. But we cannot have science in bits and pieces, applying it where we feel safe and ignoring it where we feel threatened. Except by sealing the brain off into separate airtight compartments, how is it possible to fly in airplanes, listen to the radio or take antibiotics while holding that the earth is around 10,000 years old? At the heart of science is an essential balance between two seemingly contradictory attitudes_ an openness to new ideas, no matter how bizarre or counterintuitive, and the most ruthlessly skeptical scrutiny of all ideas, old and new. This is how deep truths are separated from deep nonsense. Science requires the most vigorous and uncompromising skepticism, because the vast majority of ideas are simply wrong, and the only way to separate the wheat from the chaff is by critical experiment and analysis. If you are open to the point of gullibility and have no skeptical sense, then you cannot distinguish promising ideas from the worthless ones. Uncritically accepting every notion, idea, or hypothesis is tantamount to knowing nothing. When ideas contradict one another, only through skeptical scrutiny can we decide among them. "Those who invalidate reason ought seriously to consider whether they argue against reason with or without reason; if with reason, then they establish the principle that they are laboring to dethrone; but if they argue without reason (which, in order to be consistent with themselves they must do), they are out of reach of rational conviction, nor do they deserve a rational argument."_Ethan Allen
