If you asked many JW's, how far can the new system be? (page 2)

For some reason I always thought it would be 1993. Just seemed about right to me.
A couple of days ago my grandmother was going on about how bad the world is getting and how close we are to the end. Not sure how she knows that, she's blind, hangs around with JW's all the time and sits and listens to Fox News all day at home. Like most JW's, she hears only the bad going on and ignores anything else.

I agree most would say within 10 years. Though none of them really belief that.

Then, how can most JW still go to meetings if they don't believe that the end is close. What other carrot is there that keeps them there?

My Dad is disfellowshipped and he always mutters off the same old comment for as long as I can remember:

"Armageddon is almost here, things cannot get any worse. You can feel it in the air"

Sadly my dad thinks he will die at armegeddon. I guess part of him is hoping for Jehovah to show him mercy even though he doesn't feel deserving of it.

Any day now, that's why time is running out for those us who haven't gotten the elders seal of approval and gotten re-instated.

Most JWs think it's right around the corner because if they allowed themselves to think it's not coming, they would lose themselves.

I'd love to make a bet with one of them though,....hey if it doesn't come in another 10 years you'll quit telling me it's the "truth" and that it's near.

Except in JW world, there is no such thing as 'this system of things' or 'the new system'. Is this only found in the JW Bible?

If you talked to the regular dub....they would use words like..on the brink...on the threshold...impending...fast approaching..etc ..etc..

If then you ask them if it would be wise to plant a garden next year because "A" will be here they will confess they really don't know and don't want to speculate. If you press them and ask about the year after they will back out of the conversation.They MUST KNOW deep inside that all the timing of the "new system" by the FDS is nothing but bull shit. The WT is a house of cards that can be blown over by a single thought..

Too bad none of them do any thinking..
